Will tow mirrors be necessary?

We are upgrading to a larger travel trailer that is 8’ wide.

Coming from a 6.5’ wide x 20’ trailer, to a 8’ wide 25’ trailer, will tow mirrors be necessary? I could easily see around our smaller trailer.

This is a 2021 1794. So if I did need tow mirrors, which has all the options?

 

I would suggest tow mirrors. I have the tow mirrors from https://boostautoparts.com/

They are WAY better than the factory OEM tow mirrors. I also suggest the manual fold style for 2 reasons.

1. The power fold mirrors will freeze and break if you live in the colder climates. Mine did and I live in New England, wasted $$.
2. You will have more adjustment capabilities with the manual fold than you will with the power fold.

The one downside with the boost auto mirrors is that they are larger than the factory OEM, which is actually a plus. However, because they are larger they will give you a blind spot on both sides of the truck. If you can deal with that, then these are the best ones to purchase.

They have NO vibration at all...visibility is fantastic out of these mirrors.

I had the regular mirrors non-power fold and installed power fold tow mirrors with the factory button, just had to do some wiring. I would recommend tow mirrors for sure. I looked at the boostautoparts mirrors and by the time you add powerfolding, defrost, blind spot monitoring (if your vehicle has it) your already upwards of $750.00. The stock mirrors could be had for less; YMMV.

 

Those clip on one's blow.. They vibrate horribly.. Visibility is horrible.. Hardly better then stock. I got a pair sitting in my garage free if someone want them in NH area, cause they suck that much..Get real tow mirrors.. Way more mirror, way more visability so you can actually see something..

Any paint damage or scratches?

 

Id highly recommend it. You cant see squat behind you with an 8’ TT. (We have a 24’). Also have a 16’ v-nose tool trailer thats only 7’ wide but the tow mirrors are still awesome to have. I installed my OEM tow mirrors after seeing a buddy buy some gm-style aftermarket ones and bitched about them vibrating so badly that he couldnt see anything. If you want ‘all the options’ (ditch lights?) then aftermarket. OEM has running lights, blinkers, heat. Works for me, but different strokes for different folks.

I'm with @Johnders2586 those things are Horrible. I bought some also, when I tow my travel trailer. First trip I use them after that I sold them On offerup and bought me some tow mirrors better, make the Tundra look meaner

 

Just an FYI, those OEM tow mirrors are HORRIBLE. you can't see anything out of them.. If you are going to spend that kind of money, buy the tow mirrors from Boost Auto. They are larger, but you can see whats behind you. I had those OEM mirrors on my truck for 1 trip towing my 27' TT and after that trip i took them off and put on the boost auto mirrors. MUCH better view out of these mirrors. As a matter of fact I still have the OEM mirrors in my basement in the box.
