So in my never ending quest to make sh** complicated, I’m swapping my oem fogs out. If I wire the oem feed to a relay, and then wire a separate switch in. Will the truck still kill the fogs with the high beams on?

obvious solution would be to just wire in a separate switch, but I’d like to utilize the oem stalk switch and still be able to use the high beams and fog lights together

Yes. As the OEM feed will shut off the relay.

    Do the bypass mod.

You can get fancy with a pair of diodes and have it work with low & high beams but still off with parking lights.

Can you go into further detail on this mod?

Fog light is normally tied into the low beam circuit, coming out of the headlight switch.

I tapped into both low and high beam, and isolated them by using diodes. This prevents triggering both low and high beams at the same time, when you have tied them together to feed the fog light relay.

My fogs are wired to be able to turn on independent from the headlights as long as the ignition is on. This has become a great asset working on the property at night, the fogs do a great job as flood lighting without the blinding effect the head lights have. The other side affect with this setup is the fogs also stay on with the high beams.

I would like to figure out how to wire them to be on the same circuit as the low beams so that they can be turned on whenever like the headlights but also shut off when the doors opened.. but I’ll mess with that later
