Will gas prices get cheaper as more EVs become more mainstream and available to the average consumer, or will governments raise gas prices to force people to buy EVs?

I don’t think fuel will ever get cheaper. We use approximately 20 million barrels a day. It’s a good way to take money from the working commuting class that has to use it daily. They need the money to pay for all the expenses.

That will depend wholly on what is done with production. If different hands are on the levers of power and energy independence is prioritized, prices could drop.

As for EVs, I don't think they'll drop fuel prices, but they're definitely going to increase electricity prices.

If by different hands you mean nationaliazation of the oil companies or capping of corporate profits, then yes, prices could drop. We both know that neither of those will ever happen and while Shell and their buddies can rake in huge profits for their shareholders they will continue to do so.
It's all swings and roundabouts though, we can either pay through the nose for gas now or convince 230 million people to protest, stop driving until oil companies cut prices and then moan like f*** because our savings are performing like shit.

I don't think people realize how expensive it is to keep unicorns in captivity. The diet and vet bills alone are astronomical. Not to mention the habitat that has to be constructed. All to keep them happy and healthy, so they poop out the purest and cleanest electricity.
If we go all electric, just think how many unicorns that would require. The staffing and training alone will cost bazillions.

Gas prices are independent of how many EV's there are.
The Cartel would rather keep the oil in the ground than allow prices to fall.
$70 a barrel WTI Oil is profitable.
When the world recovers from recession the lack of investment in the oil fields will be a reckoning.
It will hurt to fill the Tundra again.

The reason pizza is cheaper is they've used the electronics to figure a way to make the crust thinner.:angrygirl:

20 years ago a pizza from domino's was 11 bucks. Today you can get that same pizza for 8 bucks. My dad and I both worked at domino's as side gigs. I can also pick up 4 pizzas for under 30 bucks at little ceasers.

The Sharp color tv my folks bought when they got married in 1981 cost them each a months wages. That's roughly 6000 bucks by today's average wages. I bought a 58 inch smart TV 6 months ago for 280 bucks.

That TV your folks bought probably lasted much longer than the your new TV will. As for the pizza, they used to have real farm raised ingredients in them, today ????. As for gas prices, my magic 8 ball says "expect much higher". Hopefully, it's full of crap once again!

Now I’m getting hungry and have started to question if pizza could get even cheaper if the delivery people drove EVs.

    I agree.

Gas, like home prices, is only gonna get more expensive. There is too much industry / infrastructure / economy for oil and gas prices to crash long term.

I recently bought my teenage sons a Prius to replace their 2002 Ford Ranger. The Prius gets 50+ mpg, and it’s crazy how much money it’s saving me.

As it is now, my wife drives the Tundra (I drive my work truck 90% of the time, 10% Jeep SRT), and we would save $4000 a year by her switching to a Tesla Model Y. Extremely tempting.

Dominoes has raised their 5.99 two topping deals to 6.99 here where I’m at. He’ll j think frozen pizza has gotten more expensive. Only ones that are cheap are the totinos still.

I think it's ESG... Investment firms like Blackrock and Vanguard actually guiding where they want the world to go. Bringing trillions and infiltrating corporations, cuz its no longer aboit profits and more about funding ideas. Regardless of who is in office.

In Canada new fuel standards are coming in July 1, with a one year grace period for refineries. The G&M article I read had a range of 7 to 17 cent per liter price increases.

There’s the market price of a gallon of gas, and then there’s the tax on it. You’re already paying more in taxes than you are for the actual gasoline in some states (CA, PA, IL). Source. Raising taxes on fuel to incentivize people to switch to EVs is definitely on my bingo card.

However, I don’t see fuel demand falling very much the more people drive EVs, not in a 1:1 relationship anyway. Isn’t the majority of our electricity from oil? EVs are more efficient, sure; but if we rapidly change over, won’t we just be switching where the demand for oil is placed (to fuel the grid rather than to fuel our vehicles)?

A lot of our electricity is fossil fuel driven, but not oil. However, modern products are all essentially derived by fossil fuels. Plastics are everywhere.

Ummm, how many electric providers are using electric service trucks or trains to transport their coal? How many power plants are constructed using electric heavy equipment or electric trucks to transport that equipment?
