I disabled the Toyota services on Day1 of owning my tundra, don't want to pay anything for a 'service.'

So I still have the OEM Head Unit. When I press maps I get some error saying nothing is installed. Same if I press 'apps', says something about Entune.

Before I start poking around any further - does it even work without the service I already had disabled?

My wife's volvo has all this for free, I could see Toyota having it as well. OTOH I could see them finding a way to charge money for it as well.

Speaking from a 2016 standpoint, Yes. Download the free Entune app on your phone, connect via bluetooth, let it handshake, and your set. The maintenance portion can easily be set through the headunit with mileage and dates of service.

    Not working for me.

    1) Tried to simply install the entune app. OK, but it requires an entune account...
    2) Tried to register, asks for email, name, and VIN. Fine
    3) Clicked "Register", then it said "Download the Toyota App and stay connected to your vehicle."
    4) Did that, made no difference. Still could not register
    5) Tried to do this on my laptop instead, ie. complete the registration
    6) It says "This email is already registered. Click here to send registration email"
    7) The email finally came... clicked.... it sent yet another email... clicked... OK, registered
    8) Was able to log in online. It showed my VIN. It asked for my VIN again... Ok entered it.
    9) Installed the Toyota App on my phone (86 MB in size), was able to log in
    10) Ran the Entune app, entered credentials - Sorry, incorrect password or email
    11) Uninstalled Entune, installed again (36 MB) - Sorry, incorrect password or email

Giving up for now. So I have 120MB of crapware on my phone that doesn't work. What a crock.

Aftermarket HU is starting to sound like a good idea, I'll wager there's no login required to use it.

I’ve never bothered with the “Entune Apps” - on my HU there are no “apps” except wifi, authorize, and one other that doesn’t do anything. As far as I know the “entune” phone app is for the 2019 and older head units.

I just use CarPlay anyway. :notsure:

Now that's the information I was looking for.

    Uninstalled both bloatware apps.

Oh is that why I can't set it up? Trying to download it on the truck was fruitless, and on the phone, it warned me to set it up in the car. Guess I have to be in there with BT turned on to do it?

I am having the same issue. I can't get it to install in either place.

I need someone to walk me through. Trouble is I am working out of town and not near the dealer where the truck was purchased. There is a Toyota dealer nearby, I wonder if they would take the time to show me? Reading manuals doesn't solve the problems.
