I guess it froze up when faced with the pressure of having to perform in front of a large crowd.

“This Silverado stalling was just the decorative toothpick in this turd sandwich of a week in the Motor City. At least a Red Wings victory gives people in Detroit something to cheer for. By the looks of it, there isn’t much else.”

I know things break, but damn. If I was the marketing director, this truck would have been tested multiple times, on similar terrain if possible.
Now you have a nation of people laughing, an arena full of people laughing, and every other forum laughing.

    Well played GM.

    LOL. That’s so brutally hilarious.

I’ve had some really good older GM pickups- the ‘87 4x4 shortbox is the one vehicle I’d like back the most- but wow, the new stuff...

That's what happens when you drive or ride public transportation. Pretty sure the Silverado Crew cabs are made in Mexico, another testimonial to the money spent on the bailout. GM definitely farted in church and now need to sit in their own pew.

Wow. Coincidental poetic justice, or someone associated with one of the area plants being closed had access and opportunity to sabotage the truck-? Same results either way. A lot of people are pissed.

Funny, the latest good one I had was an '04 as well. Had an '06 that was a gutless pile of caca. Imho gms built just prior to, during and after the bailout are not near as good as the ones prior. They can shove afm and that new turbo 4 up their ass. How about making a v8 for a truck that makes some torque?

Looks like they may need another handout soon too.

Mine had the anemic 5.3l with 3.42 gearing. Sadly, they generally only put the 6.0/6.2 on higher trim level trucks like Denali, etc.. (or in the max towing package).

Mine struggled to stay in od with an empty 16' trailer. My step dad has one a little newer that probably has the 6 speed. Its gutless unloaded as well. I've been in gms with the 6 speed and they shift alot.

I had a 2005 GMC Duramax 1 ton for 5 years 110K miles. It never left me stranded, but it wasn’t the most reliable.
The Duramax and Allison were solid.

A vehicle badged with an American name plate, wrapped up in the American flag when sitting in the showroom and actually BUILT in America, by Americans, is a BETTER THING.

Says who? For prideful reasons, sure that sounds better. In terms of quality there is no difference. American automobile manufacturers aren't in their own class on standards. Not looking to pick a fight but I'm tired of the assumption that made in Mexico equals subpar shit, it simply isn't true.

Your DAMN right it's for "Prideful Reasons". Not only are American Autos in their own class on standards but so is America as a country. There aren't THOUSANDS of Americans crashing over Mexico's Border in search of "better lives".

I had an '89 Silverado and an '07 Silverado that I really liked. That they're now are made in Mexico is one of the big reasons that I didn't buy another on when I bought my Tundra back in September. My company moved one of our major factories there about 5 years ago and I've seen the poor quality products that come out of there.

Nice truck! A buddy of mine had a 96 like that but dark green and an ext cab. It was a beast back in the day. I think it's still on the road too, I see it periodically.

Wouldn't be the first time I've drifted off topic. After accepting Billions of Taxpayer Dollars, then continuing to build their "American" vehicles in foreign countries, IS a bad thing. Mexico's government and their total disregard for America's Immigration Laws is another Bad Thing. As long as there are GM buyers who don't Pay Attention, GM will just continue going back for more Bailouts.
