I know there’s a lot on here about this topic and I’ve seen a lot saying no issues and maybe one or two posted about something minor but before I pull the trigger I would like to hear from those who DID have an issue with this tire size on a TRD Pro! Thanks

You’ll be fine with the stock wheels. I have light rubbing in reverse with SCS ray10s.

285/70/18 on a 2018 1794 that has new 2019 TRD PRO FOX suspension and 2020 TRD PRO BBS Pro rims.
I feel they fit perfectly, look good, gave about another inch in height, absolutely no rubbing, and I even left the little front air dams on. No issues.
Rides great with that size and feels planted to the ground still.

Hope this helps you in your decision.

Looks great! Thank you. This helps a lot. Have you looked to see how close to front sway bar at full turn?

I have not seen or felt any rubbing on the sway bar or anywhere Else.
The offset on the factory rims seems to keep the tires in a more vertical position rather then flattened out.
I have not aired the tires down for the sand yet, but Last I looked at the spacing I can’t remember being to worried about anything.
I’m running 32PSI all around and have had no issues.

No the offset of the stock wheels keeps them from rubbing. The SCS wheels are a +25 offset which changes everything, but also makes the stance look way better.

No issues with rubbing? I know it might be awhile till I get my hands on a set of SCS wheels. I have owned 3 sets now. None yet for the tundra. Waiting to get my truck this month. Deciding if I want to go 275 or 285. You truck look good!!

So far I’ve been pleased with the ridge grapplers. First time ever running them.

New here, but have been an active “watcher” for the last year. I’m finally pulling the trigger and swapping out the Michelin’s for a set of 285/70/18 Yoko Geolandar MTs.

...speaking of which, if you’re in the market, simpletire has an absolute steal on them right now with a handful of promos (~1100 with installation).

anyway, I purchased them then got a call from the installer.

I’m now second guessing myself because the installer is hesitant because “he guarantees they will rub”.

..is this a typical warning shot from an installer...just in case?

Again, I’ve researched like you for about a year and haven’t seen or heard of any issues...including mudflaps.

Those tires should work with zero issues.
My 1794 is on a complete stock TRD PRO set up with Fox and BBS Pro rims. Absolutely no issues and even left the stock air dame or mud flap on in the front of the tires.

Sorry forgot to mention I have the Nitto Ridge Grapplers with the aggressive side lugs, and still no issues.

Perfect. I'm sure it was just a disclaimer that he is expected to tell customers, so they don't try to add additional work to the shops. Was just concerning that both the installer and discount tire said the same thing when I tried to order the exact same tire.

It rubs where the mud flap was on the plastic that was behind it.

Not to jump into your conversation but I have noticed others having to use 1/2 bumper spacers to which will give you that little extra room without cutting anything up front.
They are really not that noticeable or at least the bumpers I have seen with them installed.
Just another suggestion if that’s a possible problem area for you.

Got them installed today...absolutely perfect. Might have slight rub on the small mud flap up front at full lock, but it's minimal if it does.

    Looks great.
Like I said I think that size is perfect for stock factory offset rims.
Trucks rides and handles great with that size. Plus you get about an inch+ lift.
    Enjoy your new shoes.

Ordering the tires first is a great idea. Both sister companies Nitto & Toyo have halted production or shut down earlier this past year because of Covid.
When I ordered mine from out here in CA they had to be shipped from Chicago and one other place back east to get all five in that size. I had to wait a few weeks.
    The wait was worth it.
