    Short backstory...

I've owned Tacomas, 22re xtracabs, celicas etc but that was over 20yrs ago.

I have owned my '05 Duramax since '08, now with over 255k trouble free miles its been the best truck I've ever owned. I had contemplated trading or dumping it for another diesel but lets be honest, in todays world you just never know what you might get regardless the brand I chose.

I have decided to keep it and fix the rusty rockers, refresh the entire interior and basically just restore it like it was a classic hot rod of sorts.

I have an '04 GMC 1500 5.3 xtra cab im driving for work currently, I bought for son that ended up with a Mazda instead. I got the truck cheap with 135k miles but its got some surface rust issues and instead of the father/son project I'm going to pass it on to someone else.

While my main thought was to buy another 3/4 ton diesel, i finally rationalized my idea to restore ole Betsy and get a good dependable truck that can likely do most the stuff my 3/4 ton can do... something I can trust, a brand I know wont let me down...

Enter my search for a pre '22 Tundra... That said I'm kinda green with gas rigs nowadays, and this flex fuel thing. Is that an option for all the tundras or specific years? I really dont want flex anything just a straight up naturally aspirated 5.7 engine.

I will be pulling the trigger in 2 months, it will be a Tundra... thats as far as I've gotten, If i could get some feedback regarding drive lines etc would be great, I noticed 19-21 no one mentions flexfuel in ads, was it certain years?

    Which to avoid?

thx for reading my discombobulated rant...

Flex fuel just means you can use e85. I wouldn’t suggest it though as it has zero benefits in these trucks in stock form. It’s still a fully NA v8. 95% of tundras on the road are flex fuel motors. Don’t let it concern you.
