I’m sure I know what you’ll all say but heres the story.

I purchased my Tundra in April ‘21 for $10K. 2007 Double Cab, 4X4, trusty 2UZ-FE with 243K on the clock, scratches, lotsa dings, one owner with lots of maintenance records (too many valvoline drive thru oil changes but whatever). Totally stock with a nice ARE shell and Yakima racks. It was great. My kind of truck. A sweaty old workhorse that I know will last forever. I replaced the rear main seal, just did TB/WP & thermostat (water pump dies on me at 70K), lift, UCAs, wheels, tires, I really love it.

I am soon to be getting a new company truck. Probably not brand new but 3-4 years old, tops. It would be mine to use as a personal vehicle. Would also be getting a shell and a proper lumber rack. That means I have to sell one of my Toyotas.

The other is my first love. My ‘06 V6 4WD 4Runner Sport. I’ve driven trucks for a long time but this was my first 4X4. It’s taken us to a lot of different states and places and I know it well. I trust it. The Tundra I haven’t even had for a year and I haven’t done much to it myself other than shocks, springs, and UCAs. The 4Runner… I’ve been all up in those guts.

I’m leaning toward the 4Runner. It has a locker, DAC (the best), far more nimble & capable off-road, way better MPG, (17ish vs 9) and is not such a pig. Needs work right now but nothing major. But I love the Tundra! I see its potential as a rad family wagon with all the room we’d ever need for road trips, but it needs work. AC work, suspension work, she’s a old gal.

Which would you save and why?

Id save the 4 runner because it can fill other uses. Why have 2 huge trucks.

part out the lift, wheels and tires and sell the tundra

^ I'm gonna have to concur with this opinion...
I loved my 97 4X4 4Runner, traded it in on my 2005 DC.
If you are already going to have a truck, bed when you need it, keep the 4Runner..

Is 06 one of the years for the V6 4Runner with head gasket problems?

I’d sell the Tundra. No sense in having two trucks. Plus I bet the value has gone up and you might make a little bit on it.

If you can't keep both. Sell the Tundra. I kept both :spy:

you all confirmed my thoughts, thank you for reading my stoney rant. gonna miss the old gal but i'm looking forward to having a nice, new, quiet daily driver.

'06 was the first year where they didn't have any problems. maybe some but '03-04 were the worst, '05 was better, '06 it was pretty rare.

Try to sell one to a friend or family that will show it love, keeps the door somewhat open since nobody knows the future.
