I am looking to replace my alcan springs with some U748 leafs. I have king Oem extended shocks front and rear. My question is what shackles work with the U748s to utilize my extended travel shocks? Not sure if this was asked already and if so, sorry for not doing my due diligence and searching. I did read that some use the MCM shackles and 1.5” camberg shackles. Is the magic number 1.5” for the shackles or do other sizes work? Only want to buy the leafs and shackles once. Leafs are self explanatory.what other brand shackles will work with my setup? Thanks in advance. This is for a third gen.

@Toytec Lifts shackles are quite beefy and can be set at 1" or 1.5". Call them. Ask for Hugo!

I looked at those and they provide 3/4” of height. This is where I get confused. If the U748s provide 2” of lift and the shackles add more height. What’s the maximum lift height I can go in the rear with the Oem ext shocks? As for the toytecs adding an inch brings me to 3” lift and adding 1.5” would bring me to 3.5” lift. I am under the impression that 3” lift is the maximum lift in the rear I can go with for some reason with the shocks I have. Not a 100 percent on that though.

I believe the U748’s are rated at 2” with the 3/4” shackle included so you will get 2” total lift. Upgraded shackle is required for these springs from what I hear. You could do a 1 1/2” lift shackle and would probably get about 2 3/4” lift total but would need custom shocks for sure. 2” is probably already too much for factory shocks though.

I have a set of relatively new U748 that are a few months old for sale if you’re interested. I’m down in the South Bay. Was on my truck for 2 months or so.

After the replies and I read all 10 pages of the k37 vs U748 thread here. I’m going with the U748s and TC shackles. Will work perfectly with my Oem ext travel kings shocks. Should have spent the time to read that first before posting the thread. Just adding more clutter. Sorry.

I didn’t get enough lift out of them and they were not as flexible as I had wanted.

The U748s are in my shed looking for a new home :p I also have a set of +2 CB shackles and I have 2 sets of brand new CB poly bushings for the leaf springs.

I have, but Sdhq sells the dealers with tc shackles like a package deal. Sorry for the late response I forgot about this thread.

On a different note. I got my TC shackles in. They look like they are about and inch or so longer than the stock shackles. My custom alcans were made to provide 2” of lift. They are flat at the moment and I’m assuming it’s my fault for running them with the stock shackle which was a bad idea. The shackles hit my frame and caused a little bit of damage. Now for the question, can I use the TC shackles with those alcans till I get my deavers in a month or so without damaging my king Oem ext shocks? The lift would be like 3” or so after and I don’t think the shocks can handle more than 2” lift. Here is what happened on both sides. 5C024B4B-E5F5-4AF6-8120-FF31690E7B43.jpg52D6C711-14BF-4AAE-AD54-56630D0EBDF7.jpg8CBED92D-FE13-495F-8E8D-DED1A58DDA52.jpg86F50E49-5912-4245-842C-4BCBCF8D3691.jpg

I don’t think it would put you at 3” if your existing shackles are angled like that with alcans. If anything the TC shackles look like they would give you some “breathing room” for your current leafs and would also be angled without rubbing on the frame.

BTW you’re probably in the same boat I’m in. Waiting on Deaver to call me back since early June for a set of u748 leafs. I’m also considering doing icon rxt option 1 with TC shackles to give me about 2.5” of lift in the rear, but I’m hearing option 1 load is weak. Option 2 would be too high in the back for me at 3”

I thought about going with the icons, but seems like most people were happy with their deavers. I ordered mine from Sdhq about 2 weeks ago.

This is why I was asking. I don’t drive the tundra right now cause of what it’s doing to my frame. I didn’t know that when you go with aftermarket leafs for lift that you should be using aftermarket shackles.

I'm confused, when were there OEM King shocks? What did I miss in my skimming of this thread?

Wish they were actual Oem shocks. That would be awesome. Maybe the new 2022 will have them instead of fox. Ha ha ha.

Got my deavers in and about to install them, but I don’t know which side is what? Nothing on them that says drivers side or passenger side. There are only two stickers on them. One has an R at the end of the number which I would assume is the right leaf, but I could be wrong. Anyone know which one of these are the drivers side and passenger side? 7E0E2150-0AE6-4840-B93A-FC20AEA1A054.jpg C0532323-8396-4A7C-B6F8-EA6B2B6DF1D2.jpg

According to this post the double wrapped eyelet goes toward the front. This guy initially put them on backwards. https://www.tundras.com/threads/deaver-k37-vs-u748-pros-and-cons.18008/page-9#post-1929527

Thanks. I finished installing them and the total chaos shackles. Now the truck doesn’t sit on the timbrens and the shackles/leaf no longer rest on the frame. You can see where the leaf was hitting my frame and dented it. Nice. Did you get the two inches advertised with the TC shackles?

I would say so. I’ll measure tomorrow. What I do know is that nothing is touching and my suspension has room to travel again. So I’m happy. The truck looks better now too. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow for a before and after.
