    Hello all,

I am looking to add a camper shell to my 2014 Crewmax in MGM. I have been looking around and can't quite figure out which one I want to go with. Does anyone have any recommendations or pros and cons of certain brands? Thank you!

I’ve had 2 ARE toppers between 2 trucks. I haven’t had any issues with them. Lots of options/ configurations for windows and such. pretty much all of the manufacturers are like that though. Shop around for pricing/availability.

Most shells are made by 2 different manufacturers, depending what side of the country you are on will be which is most prevalent in your area. So find one with the price and features you want. just know the quality will be about the same. I have had century ARE and snugtop the ARE are my personal favorite. I always look for used in my area when I buy your color is very popular a good chance you can find one at a good discount on market place.

I looked for a long time before I found my color and a cap that was complete and under my budget range. One will come along. Also look at used Tundras for sale I. Your color. You’ll see some with shells on them. Message the seller to see if they will part either the shell separately. They add no value to the sale price of the truck unfortunately.

I had an ARE on my 1st gen and was very happy with the quality.

One thing I didn't like; mine had a single handle in the center and when towing my travel trailer the wind vortex off the trailer would get under the back window and flex it enough that the (locked) window would open and go up.
It would seem well latched and when I'd try to flex it to troubleshoot, it would flex enough to make me worry about breaking something and not open. but get up to speed and "boink" up it goes.

The first time it happened my dog, who NEVER laid down on car rides was in the back. I looked in the mirror and saw the open back window and didn't see my dog!!:eek2::eek: I think he did it... pretty smart 'cuz he always rode up front after that.

So if I were getting one I'd get handles on both sides. If the wind can flex it open I'd say a thief probably can too.

Good to know. That would be pretty crazy to be driving along and have the rear of the camper open up suddenly.

The problem might be in your search for a topper you are putting in camper instead of canopy and not getting all of your results. They are two different items.
