My 2020 Tundra has 20,000 miles and it’s time to change the brake fluid. Actually, I’m late and change it on a more frequent schedule. On my other cars I use ATE Original TYP 200 Racing Quality DOT 4 Brake Fluid.

This should be compatible with the Tundra. The reason I used ATE in the first place was because they had two fluid colors, clear and Blue. It made it very easy to tell when you had completely flushed the system. They discontinued the blue. I also used it when I tracked my car, it had a higher boiling point. That is not an issue with the Tundra.

Is there any reason NOT to use it ATE? Please don’t tell me if you have the original fluid and have 100,000 miles on your truck. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. The brake fluid does absorb moisture and eventually the insides of your calipers will rust.

Does the Toyota Brake Fluid offer any advantages? BTW: FROM ATE TECH SUPPORT:

“Dot 4 absorbs moisture at a slower rate than Dot 3, however, the boiling point of Dot 4 will drop a greater amount with the same % moisture than it will with Dot 3. It’s a bit confusing."

ATE 200 is good fluid and will be fine in your Tundra. I have used it in multiple European cars over the years. Nothing special about the Toyota brake fluid.
