Hey all , I imagine the answer will be Amazon , but I switched over rims and I need new TPMS sensors. Are they universal ? Where would be the best place to get them? Also where would be the best place to get black lug nuts with a locking lug nut ? 2021 Toyota Tundra crewmax limited off road if that matters ? Thanks in advance for all your help

New OE sensor cost me around $110. I was replacing it myself the first time in life and didn't how how much hassle it could be. Turned out not much, difficulty was one beer can out of six-pack. Next time I'll be doing cheap sensor. I think 315 MHz one is what our trucks use.

I find part number I need then google who among a crowd of dealers have it the cheapest.

Discount tire…$60 each installed and configured. 6 year warranty too if I recall correctly.

The 20/21 does not like most aftermarket sensors. Discount Tire sensors are hit and miss....some work, some don't.

OEM parts straight from Japan. They're great if you don't mind the wait (some parts have taken a month+ for me).
Bought TPMS sensors from them a couple months ago for $57 each. Bought several things from them over the years. Most parts are much cheaper there than buying stateside.

Fair point, I haven't had DT do them on my 20 Tundra. They've been nearly flawless on my 04 4R, 11 4R, and 15 Sienna though. I had one fail on the Sienna after a year and was replaced under the warranty at no cost. With the cost and warranty, it's still probably what I'd try.

Agree, Discount tire. I had bought four from Rockauto for my new wheels and could not get them to program. I dint realize how inexpensive discount tire was on TPMS sensors. Have only had them for a month but so far so good

For my 2011, I used Huf Intellisens sensors from TPMS.com. I used my Autel tool, and they linked right up. 5 sensors ran me $183.50 including tax and shipping. I don't know if those will work on a 2.5 gen, but they work great on my 2011.

As for lug nuts, I got a set of Gorilla Spline Lug Nuts (in gloss black) from Colton (@memario1214) at Hotshot Offroad when I purchased my wheels. The set comes with the wrench/key.

Screenshot_20250110-143642.png McGard for wheel locks, look for extended thread lug nuts to make sure you have enough thread engagement on the studs up front. You don't want to lose a front wheel on the road. Even better is to replace the studs with longer studs from IIRC correctly, Blackhawk out of Japan. You can search this site and find a thread about them, the part number, and the source. I purchased my extended thread spline version from Amazon and they are okay, but I will eventually replace the studs to achieve maximum thread engagement.

    Here:https://www.tundras.com/threads/the...em-lugs-aftermarket-studs.76918/#post-2765793

Keep in mind that not all wheels have the same lug nut seat design and it is critical to match it.

I’ve had great luck with the Autel MX sensors. They can be programmed to either Hz signal for all year tundras and you can get all 4 for about 125 bucks. I even bought their TPMS tool to read and program my sensors on my own. They work well in my aftermarket wheels.

The new TPMS sensors Discount Tire put on my wheels seems to restrict air flow, it took a long time airing up my tires the other day. I should have gone with part numbers in hand to get a high-flow model that's rated to 80psi+.

Replace the Schrader valve with the one from your old sensor.

I have this box in the glove box of my Tundra: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WRRK4R/ Comes handy when I air down and manage to bend a valve, or two.

That would have been great to know if I had kept the old ones. Discount Tire tossed them.

You think it’s the schrader valves themselves? Pretty sure I have a valve core removal tool or two around, if I knew there were compatible valves available that flowed more.
