Just drove 380mi from the Bay area to Placerville and back. Saw a lot of trucks. Toyota Tundra or Tacoma is not the ones we saw. Tacoma 26, Tundra 3. Granted this may not be scientific, but I expected to see more.

I remember when I saw a truck once. I couldn't stop talking about it for days.

Did you look for Tundras around their natural habitat? You know, at the gas stations. :boink:

Why are you here if the others are any better on mpg. My 72 K20 4x4 454 was 3-6mpg not even romping on it. 10-15mpg seems to be the industry standard for v8 gas engines. I only ask if you see these trucks on the roads.

I see them, but in proportion to their market share. Tundras are something like 9% of the truck market, so they are heavily outnumbered by other trucks. Tacos I see more than any other midsized truck, and that's reflected in their market share as well.

If you're looking for Tundras you gotta remember you're looking for less than 10% of all the trucks in the country.

It is a vague question. There could be a number of reasons why you didn't see many Tundras on the road. The sales volume response is probably the best response you'll get.

We don't see a lot of Subaru's around these parts. PNW? Cali? Jackson Hole? littered with them. Some of it is regional as well I would imagine.

This along with regional differences. Around Michigan, in general, I don't see many other Tundras, I see them once in a while and I know they are around but nothing like when I go to the Twin Cities area of MN to visit family and I see them all over the place like I see Chevy/Dodge/Ford here.

When I was looking for a truck I looked at a GMC Sierra and the dealer asked what other trucks I was considering so I said Tundra and his first response was to ask if I grew up in another state lol, they just aren't as common around here

    1. I’m here because I have no life.
    2. It was a joke, which clearly went over your head.
    3. I see lots of them, on the road, at gas stations, all over. Even at the mall and grocery store. Where I don’t usually see them is on the back of a tow truck, on the side of the road with the hood open, in the shop…

Seems like there are a ton of Tundras and Tacomas around me in the PNW. Every time I go for a drive I see at least a few.

I see a fair amount (meaning at least a couple on my 15-20 mile commute to the city and back) of Tundras here in the Philadelphia area and South Jersey. Ironically, several identical to mine when it was completely stock, with the "SX" badges and all. Definitely like it better now though. Is there a Tundra wave, I mean other than @BlueRibbon4x4 's spiderman thing he had going?

During our house remodel, both the window subcontractor and the sheet rock foreman drove Gen 2.5 Tundras

Would be somewhat interesting to see the data, but my guess is there are more where fuel is cheaper.

Certainly see more of them in upstate SC than I used to in the Sarasota/Bradenton area of FL, especially older models. Generally speaking the Tundras I saw in FL tended to be the blinged up newer models.
Lots of older Toyotas around here, I keep meaning to get a better pic of a lovely looking local 50 series Land Cruiser that is someones daily driver.

Someone else mentioned Subarus, not so many of them in SC but head to Asheville NC , where the wintry hills and money are, and they are like a bad rash. If I didn't need a truck then an Outback would be my first choice of vehicle.

Lots of 2.5 Gens in SC. Also see plenty of nice first gens. New 3rd gens are quite rare.

Its definitely regional. Lots of them where I live.

We drove to Cleveland in 2003 in our then new Subaru, we saw one other beat mid 90s Subaru the entire 10 days we were there.

There are quite a few shared similarities between those two (derp, I should have added Asheville NC ), what with demograhics and geography, says a lot for scoobies.

Tundra's are everywhere in northwest GA, upstate SC also.
I agree that the general gas price is a significant factor in the region, it's significantly more expensive driving a Tundra on the west coast or in the northeast.
