The current model is already an upgrade over your Tacoma.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Current model is leaps and bounds better than the Taco.

Whatever tech is in the 2019 RAV4 Limited in theory could show up in the next Tundra but when the engine/body generation change is anyone’s guess.

A complete overhaul is an extremely expensive proposition. Ford, GM, and FCA depend on their trucks to drive profit. Toyota not so much.

Knowing how my luck goes, they'll have an all new Tundra for the 2020 model year.

    Not nearly enough room here!
You're right, Toyota is doing fine on the Tundra by dropping features from one year to the next, so it's customers can BUY those features from them and re-design their trucks. Re-installing Beancounter deleted standard equipment!

Dude must not have been active on the Tacoma forum. It was the same over there every year from about 2008 to 2015. “When is the redesign going to be announced?”

If not this year, next year. Unless it’s after that.

Also, careful what you wish for. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s no big V8 option in the next gen. People gonna lose their minds.

This x100. I'd bet after you test drive a current Tundra you're going to want to dump that Tacoma ASAP.

I test drove an 18 Tacoma. I loved it. Was solid and compact. But......... I’ve always driven a full sized truck and I do full sized truck things. If I didn’t need to haul the things I do I’d of gone with the Tacoma. That was my thought process until I test drove my 17 tundra. complete game changer. I drive a Nissan Frontier for work so I’m used to the small sized truck for everyday driving but I still can’t get over the lack of room. Plus The wife and I are planning on growing the family soon so I need a larger vehicle and room. Tundra just fit the bill better. You wouldn’t be disappointed if you got a tundra right now. Unless you just don’t like the big truck feel. The tundra to me feels bigger than any of my half tons I’ve had. It even has a bigger back seat and front seat room than my 05 f350 I had.

Rumor seems to be they will update the tundra in a year or two. If they do I won’t go trade in mine.

I don’t care what Toyota does with the tundra for now. I plan on keeping mine till it’s at least 10 years old. I won’t even have 100,000 miles by then, so it probably won’t be until 2030 when I start thinking about something else. Plus my warranty is 100,000 or 10 years. I’m good, I like my dinosaur.

Because when America thinks of a pickup truck the very last thing that comes to mind is a Toyota.

The OP would be crazy to buy a tundra today... Tundra has been left in the dust by EVERY other pickup truck manufactured. 4 years ago, the gap was not as vast as it is today.

Well to be quite honest I think that us Tundra owners are ahead of the game because like three years ago all my buddies were saying why did you buy a Toyota now I've got like five of them on the line just waiting to go buy theirs LOL

we are far, far behind the game.
The only reason I would see to get into a tundra is if you want to stay away from long term ownership of forced induction. You want to get into a plain jane V8 on a budget. You can get a V8 F150 its just a little more expensive. It outclasses the tundra in convenience (features), options (drive train + engine configurations), and capabilities (towing).
