Hey, I have an 18 doublecab SR5 and am gonna buy some 20" takeoffs from a 19. Is the wheel swap gonna be simple. (Same lugs? TPMS sensors?) Is there anything I need to be aware of. Same bolt pattern I assume. Any wheel guru want to shed some light for me. Thanks in advance.

Do you have steel or aluminum wheels? if you have aluminum then your sensors and lugs can be used with the 20" takeoffs. If you currently have steel wheels then neither will work with OEM aluminum wheels.

Mine are the steel ones I think (in the picture). Are lugs and sensors pricey?

You'll need new TPMS to match certain OEM/TRD aluminium wheels. There are 3 different angles. If you get aftermarket aluminium wheels make sure they install the TPMS from the Steel wheels properly, or else you'll have an error. They need to spin it 180deg for the ECU to see/read it.

I think that OEM sensors MSRP is around $100. There are different sensors for '18-'19 and '16-older. With an '18 you want to make sure that you are getting the correct sensors for that year. In the past, I have seen Black Friday deals from Cool Springs Toyota and Sparks Parts so if you might be able to save on shipping if you go with OEM sensors.

I swapped my original steel wheels for 18" OEM alloys and ditched the sensors... the dash light stops blinking after a couple minutes and all is well. You will need the lugs nuts that match up with the alloy wheels you decide to use.

These are the the takeoffs I plan in getting, I assume these are aluminum.

Nice upgrade. Bet they're smooth riding on the highway. Yes they are aluminum

Thanks, I like the 18's just fine as far as ride quality goes but these takeoffs come with almost new tires and I like the look a bit more at a good price. I'm considering powder coating them black, still unsure.

If the seller is getting rid of their OEM wheels they probably don't have any use for the stock lug nuts. Might be worth asking for them too.

Me too on mine as far as black powdercoat. But I don't have a spare set of wheels and wonder about the cost of powdercoat I have 20" and thinking about if a smoking deal comes around for some nice TRD 18" take offs. I'd like to try a set of those road tires. The ones on mine are not that good AT tires. Yeah, they're fine out screwing around on a farm but they suck and are not balancing right.

You can just have whoever installs the wheels flip the sensors upside down—they'll still work fine. It's not technically the "correct" setup, but it'll work. I went from steel to aluminum on my 2010.

This is what I was wanting to hear. if all it effects is the angle of the valve stem then that would be great.
