IMG_0804.jpgHere’s my truck.. I have zero interest to dechrome or debadge.

I am purchasing new tires and I am thinking of getting new wheels.

FN BFD and SCS F5 are the two contenders.

I am on the fence with color. Gunmetal Gray or black. Black seems to be overused these days but I just want the color that will look best with my setup.

I simply just not sure what color to go with…interested in opinions!

I'd lean towards black.. not sure the two different shades of gray would look great together.

Gunmetal. Or Anthracite (Pretty much the same thing)

I personally have never really cared for all black wheels, I like black on a two tone, like black accents on a machined face wheel or something, but not solid black.

Might wanna' scroll through here... https://www.tundras.com/threads/let’s-see-your-cement-tundra-wheels.51318/

Random image from the web, I think this looks really good.

To be fair, scrolling through that thread I linked above I can see where some of the black wheels look real good contrasted with the Cement Tundras, I'm just not a black wheel guy.

I was checking out those threads.

It’s so hard to get a feel because lightning and camera settings has such a huge impact on color IMHO.

Can always pick up a wheel kit, "paint" your current wheels a similar gray to what you are thinking. And see.

Yes, its additional money but beats buying new wheels in a color and then finding out you do not like them.

Yeah, it really does. Some of those in low light almost didn't look like Cement.

A hard NO on the blue lol!

A little shift in gears here…. I am liking the 17 inch wheels much better. Preferably the FN 5 Star, possibly the Six shooters. Nothing against SCS but it seems like they have less options in 17 5x150? Please feel free to school me if I am wrong…

I am definitely going with the glossier Gunmetal. I saw a lot of pictures of gunmetal wheels on Cement Tacos, and they look phenomenal/unique but not gaudy. I am a lower key type of guy.

What an awesome about 17 wheels is that I can go larger (285/70R17), get a P rated tire, and have it weight exactly the same (…only because the wheels are 7 pounds lighter than TRD wheels) as my factory wheels with the stock Michelins. Weight is the biggest enemy IMHO. My stock suspension will perform practically the same as now.

I can’t wait to get the ball rolling on this!

FYI, through my research the big negative is that there are practically no highway tires for that size. Only AT’s.

I have no education on your generation truck, but make sure that calipers will fit inside. I can tell you that 16s are a tight squeeze on the 1st gen and I'd hope your heavier truck has beefier brakes that we do.

    Yep, good call.

My understanding (mostly from reading on here) is that there are select few 17" wheels that fit (barely) over our brakes, but not all do.

And yes, thank goodness the 2.5 gen has beefier brakes. Having owned and towed with a 1st gen prior to buying the '19 I'm greatly enjoying the brakes on this one.

I really loved my '00 but it was severely underbraked for towing. We camp in the desert a lot and I really had to tip-toe down the grade to keep 'em from heating up.
