I have a 2016 Tundra with the TRD package. After 8k miles, I had a wheel bearing go bad. It started with some grinding noise that sounded a lot like really loud tire tread noise and got louder and louder. Then, when it finally went completely, warning lights on the dash went off alternating between messages "brake controller error" and "check blind spot mirror". Additionally, the ABS warning light turned on.

Toyota Santa Cruz fixed it under warranty. Took three trips to toyota prior to the warning lights and they did nothing - said it was tire noise. Only after the warning lights went off (during a long road trip) did Toyota Santa Cruz fix the problem.

Now again at 23k miles, it's happened again on the same wheel.

Any ideas if there is an underlying problem that could be causing this?
