I had an 02 4runner for the last 9 years . I've had 4 sets of duratracs. That's the only tire I know for a truck. I loved those tires: The look, how they ride and handle my conditions. I don't off-road but here outside of buffalo, we get lots of snow, slick roads, and lots of rain too. I have a 500+ foot driveway that may not always be clear of snow and I'm a realtor so I'm sometimes going to uncleared driveways to show homes and vacant land. I want to upgrade wheels and tires soon but duratracs are not available in 295/70/18.

My options-some other tire in 295/70/18
    285/75 instead to get duratracs
drop down to 17s. It'll save me on the wheels but that's a one-time cost and not a recurring cost I will lose that advantage on future tire sets

ideally, I'd like tires under 375 each. I've read lots of good things about the falkens but I get analysis paralysis and the idea of a tire other than the duratracs is hard to swallow.

A good friend of mine put a set of Falkens on after years of Duratracs. He said he really like them so far. Really good in snow, but not as good in mud.

I’d also look at Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT if they have the size you’re looking for.

Kenda Klever R/Ts seem pretty good so far but I haven’t had them on through snow yet. I’ve had duratracs before and the kendas seem better in the rain and wet pavement. Not sure what sizes they have for 18” though. If you can find them cheaper, the Fierce Attitude MT is a duratrac carcass with slightly different tread pattern and sidewall appearance but it’s essentially a rebranded duratrac.

The Fierce Attitude is a fair bit more aggressive and doesn’t have the 3PMS rating.

Yes I suppose if needing that 3 peak rating is important to where you’re traveling since some roads require it then that is a consideration. Otherwise I’ve had duratracs and fierce attitudes and nothing stood out as being superior with either one in their performance, noise, handling etc. I may just not be that picky though. I’ve had a lot of tires and the only ones I truly hated were Cooper STTs, Dick Cepek FC IIs, and nitto terra grapplers.

I use the Goodyear AT Adventure with Kevlar. 60k mile warranty for those that do the miles and is 3PMS rated.

I had Duratrac on my 4runner, but the lack of mileage warranty caused me to try this on my Tundra.

I don't worry about off-roading. Or running over something. Or being too noisy on my long highway drives. Or having problems during monsoon. (When it rains here, it can REALLY rain.) Or not lasting...

    Recommended.

I’m going to replace my Duratracs with another set of Duratracs when they’re done. These tires have been awesome for me. They sit somewhere between AT and MT. Fantastic in snow, mud, loose dirt, rocks, etc. They’re no Michelins on the road, but I rotate very frequently and they have stayed quiet for me in 32k miles.

If you’re wondering, 285/75R18s fit our trucks perfectly with a 2” lift up front only. I think this size fits a little better than 295/70R18. They clear the UCAs better and don’t rub as much.

For your use, sounds like Cooper AT3 4S are a great choice.

They are a very popular choice up here in Alaska for folks who prefer not to run snow tires in the winter.

Several of my employees all have them on their trucks, and my BIL put them on my sister’s Durango. They all love them.
