    Try them medium well. At least the potatoes are fresh and cooked right there. That might be why they taste different to others. Most places fries are flash fried then frozen, then deep-fried again for serving. In and out cuts them and cooks them right there. Definitely need to be eaten immediately and not 10 to 15 minutes later when you get home. Next time try medium well fries they are more crispy and taste better if eaten later. I like to eat in and out at the restaurant. It’s much better eaten immediately.

    I think they quit salting them to keep the calorie count down. I wonder if it’s possible to ask for season salt. I always sprinkle a little salt.

    I personally like the fries, but I do think it's the fresh taters that make them hit or miss with the population. I think they aren't soaked long enough to extract the excess starch.

    I think you’re right. Even at home when I make fries I soak them in cold water for a bit before frying. Makes a big difference. I think people have gotten used to fries not being fresh so when they have been cut and cooked to order it’s a different experience for sure. People are like “where’s my damn processed fries!”

    Had In and Out last year in Cali. It was OK, can see why people like it, especially if really hungry. It reminded me of a newer chain in our parts, Freddy's which has a 50's theme. Honestly thought they may be owned by same folks. The dining area were very similar.

    Since local spots were brought up, you guys in Upstate SC should come to Cold Springs Cafe and get a real cheeseburger. It's Meat and 3 but the best burgers you can get. They make their on stinkin'buns!!! I'll get a picture next time I'm out there.
