I put 285/70/18 RG’s on my stock 2017 Crewmax TRD Off-road. They are awesome tires, but they are sucked in a bit. Rather than do 1.25” spacers and have to deal with the constant torque checks, I am considering offset wheels. What size offsets can I put on that will fit these 18” tires?

I’d run +25 with those if it were me. You’ll poke just a little outside the wheel well.

Thanks. I am confused though cuz the three videos I watched all say that if I want to poke out I need a negative offset.

-24...look at my pics....not sure where people come up with a + offset??? 20x10 wheels... guess it depends on the lip and the deep dish look you want.

Yeah, I like the pics, looks like a little poke which is what I want. I just don’t get the negative versus positive thing. The sites say negative causes more poke yet LogCabins and Squeaky above say for more poke I need positive (+). I am just missing something and trying to figure this out. Thanks to all for your help...sorry for being such a dumb-ass about this

https://www.tundras.com/threads/offset-and-backspace.255/#post-3455 This link will explain everything you need to know, there is more than just offset, also factors backspacing....depends on the look you are going for....Do you want a deep dish or do you want more of a factory/Offroad capable wheel, the stock wheels on the Tundra are a +60 (well most of them) now factor in the more you push your tire out with a zero to negative offset you may get into rubbing issues especially on stock suspension

Isn’t a +25 what you get with stock wheels and 1.25in spacers?

Pretty much, 1.25" offset from stock would be a +28.25 to be exact lol.

Okay, clear now, really appreciate the help. I am going with the 18 x 9 with +25 as recommended. I have a 3/2 leveling kit installed so I think there will be no rubbing.

You’ll be good. I have a 2.5 inch lift with that size tire and +18 wheels

In a nutshell.... The more - offset you have the further out the outer edge of the wheel will sit from the hub....as I understand it and I have applied it. I have a 3 inch Boss coilover lift.

Yep, the displacement of the mounting surface from the wheels center line. If you were to move the mounting surface toward the back of the wheel (toward the hub) it would be a negative (-) offset, thus moving the majority of the wheel outward away from the hub. If you were to move the surface toward the front the the wheel (away from the hub) it would be a positive offset, making the wheel more tucked.

The OE TRD wheel is a +60 on a 9" wheel. Basically the mounting surface is 60mm off or ~2.36" closer to the front of the wheel.

SCSs +25 wheels stick out ~1.37" more than stock.
Methods +0 on 8.5 stick out ~2.1" more than stock.

I have a 3/2 kit as well. I run the 285/70/18 RG's on a 0 offset and I'm just barely a hair outside of the Bushwacker flares.

It is along the lines of the OME lift I had on the Tacoma I owned previously. I love the products!

I'll be coming out of a Readylift 3/2 spacer kit and going to the Boss kit so it should ride alot better. I got the SPC UCA's in today.

A big thing that confuses alot of people is it depends on how wide a wheel is also so 0 is the center so a 9 wide wheel thats 4.5" on each side of center. So a -18 on a 9 wide is way different then on a 12 wide. If that makes any sense. And thats just an example not real world numbers for 18" wheels but I have 18x9 wheels right now with a +1 my tire would still just be inside of the fender if I had a 9" wide tire . But I run a 12.5 wide so my tire is roughly 1" out from fender.
