Isn't the '19 Tacoma larger than the '00 to '03 1st gen Tundra?

You are correct... I just checked, and the dimensions are virtually identical with the Tacoma being an inch less here and there.

I thought so, cause the back seat of the first gen feels way more spacious than the present Tacoma.

Same platform does not mean the trucks will be the same size. It just mean that they will share components, but the platforms are modular so they can be adjusted to different lengths, widths etc. as needed. This does not mean that the new Tacoma and Tundra will be the same size, or closer in size than current generations.
