Tried to clean old rims with armarol rim cleaner. Did not do much. Has anyone had any real results with a product to clean rims?

Different topic but I used L.A. Awesome on car seats worked well seats were trashed, look much better now. Made the wife happy.

So if you know a product that you used for rims let me know, detailing all our vehicles this weekend.

    Thanks

If it’s brake dust that is stuck on get some dollar store oven cleaner - let it soak - and normal duty steel wool it.

An old detailer taught me that.

I've always had good luck with Eagle One wheel cleaner. You may need something stronger.

After I clean my wheels I spray wax them, seems to keep them cleaner longer. Also allows them to be cleaned much easier. Maybe my imagination, but I think it works well.

I would be cautious with oven cleaner. If the clear coat is compromised anywhere from a scratch or a wheel chip, the oven cleaner will get underneath it and make it worse. Oven cleaner can remove a lot of coatings, including anodizing. It's a good product to remove a lot of stubborn stuff, but I'm not using it on my truck.

Steel Wool will scratch the hell out of your rims. I wouldn't touch it to my rims. Of course it would help to see a photo of what we're dealing with, as well. :)

Not s heavy grade steel wool - and you don’t dig into it. Just enough to Break up the baked on brake dust

Many moons ago, a BMW detailer educated me on the wonders of Simple Green. Won’t harm finished or colors and you can dilute to your liking. Bio friendly so you can hose/spray off and don’t have to worry about harsh chemicals.

Then, when you want to clean up the dust, baby wipes. If it’s safe for your kids butt, it’s safe for your trucks wheels.
