Getting my son a 1794 Tundra for his college graduation this coming week. Haven't done any shopping and was wondering what to expect as far as pricing and best deal pricing. I am in Central Texas if location makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

Damn, are you adopting at all?! You didn't specify if you are buying new or used, that may help for clarification. If buying new you are probably looking at a price tag of 60-70K depending on the dealership and money off!

I am gonna sound like a jerk, but if your son is graduating with debt I would use that 60-70K to pay some off instead of buying a new truck, but I am guessing he may not have any student loans. Another thing I would think of is that if he ends up taking a job in the city (not sure what his degree is in) then having a large truck to park isn't ideal. (just some advice from someone who had to buy a small commuter car for that).

I Scrabble and Trucksareforgirls2, We made a deal with him, if he graduated in 4 years or less we would buy him the vehicle of his choice. We figured price of additional semesters vs new vehicle we would rather spend it on new vehicle.

We are looking at doing new, that was the deal.

Trucksareforgirls2 I get what you are saying but reality is, we are older parents had him at 38 he is our only child all his grand parents are deceased. Both my husband and I recieved new cars as college graduation gifts and had our college paid for. We are fortunate that we can do the same for our son. He has never failed a class, never given us a bit of trouble, struggles with a learning disability in math and yet graduated with a double major in 4 four years. He is a hard worker and has never been demanding nor asked for much, is very grateful for all he has. We can afford it and it gives us pleasure to be able to reward his accomplishments.

Very good to hear OP, you don't owe me any explanation though, and I don't want you to think I was judging your particular situation. I was just stating a generalization about parenting these days and what I have observed, with lots of adult kids having a total failure to launch because of over coddling etc. That is wonderful that your son is a hard worker and is headed towards a successful life, and he will be styling in his new Tundra for sure!! Congrats to him on his graduation!!!

Sounds like the dealerships are struggling a bit to sell the Tundras they have so you may be able to get a good deal!!
