Tried a couple searches... didn't see much about this topic/question....

I'm curious if there is anything that can be put or used in center speaker (dash) location?
I pulled my speaker out years ago and occasionally will look the grill wondering what could go there to be functional.

    Any takers on this? Pictures?

Look up Rago Dash mount. You'll see lots of crazy set ups.

I've seen their stuff before... I do like the dash mount, it's pretty nice!, but looking for the center speaker area.

I might need to pick up a 3d printer and play around with some inserts.
All of the center mounts I have seen require additional holes for power/usb to come through, if that Rago plate extended back to the speaker grill as 1 unit, that might look nice..

Sent their support team a request to see if they would make one. Would be a great option to mount an alpine dash cam and have near hidden wires.

Just put the speaker back in and leave unplugged if you're looking to fill the void

that speaker has been long gone.... removed it back in 2019.
even a neat push to release cover would be great, so have a little stash area.

I’ve done something similar to the Rago Fab, but the Taco Garage DMM. Ran the DMM on my Tacoma and loved it so tried it on my Tundra and love it too.

It just accepts standard ball mounts with a bolt through them, so a plethora of RAM mount type accessories. I have my phone mount, iPad mini mount and a mag charger for the wife’s phone.

I also disliked the media USB being strung across the center dash controls, so I snaked it up behind the radio and out of the dash pocket.

The area I circled is what I am wanting to see if there are any mods for.
I like the rago or victory plates, but was hoping they had a modified version that would also reach back over the speaker plate....
I might have to get one fab'd up from billet aluminum to what I want.... Unsure how a dash cam would look from that height or if I would end up seeing too much hood.
But overall it might look nicer to have a single piece of plate instead of an unused grill + plate.

Your obsession with this hole is noteworthy..:eek2:
Doesn't your 1794 have a sensor in that grille for your auto headlights?

To answer your question, you will see alot of the hood with the dash cam being that low.

Yeah my dashcam is mounted next to my rear view mirror and is powered by the plug in the mirror for a clean install. Dash mounted right there won't give you the POV that you'd want.

Aside from hiding an ezpass in there for tolls, a speaker seems the best use for the space.

So you guys still run center speakers with an aftermarket HU?

to get a little off topic…
I opted for focal 3-way components in the front and 2-way components in the rear with a JL 10” sub. That is powered by a JL xd700/5v2.

the center I disconnected because I couldn’t figure out impedance options and if there would be an overpowered amount of highs with the 3-way setup and at the time. Prior to swapping the HU for an Alpine, I was running a DSR1 that allowed the option to send the voice channel over to the front left channel. Guess I haven’t paid much attention to how the maestro RR handle the voice channel.

But now I’m curious about the center speaker again.

If you're familiar with the 2.0s, the dash scoops downward a bit, creating a flat face which has an LCD display. Not sure of the info displayed there as OEM because I have a base model, but you'd imagine the usuals like time, temp, and bearing.

I've installed a Raspberry Pi in the truck and if I had enough time to pursue, thought about putting small rectangular OLEDs there to display tire pressures, pitch/roll, trans temp and maybe injector consumption. That all assumes I could get those values from their respective modules through CAN. You'd of course need to 3DP an insert.

In my SR5 non-JBL even with the Kenwod HU the dash speakers run off the HU.
I'm running ampped Focal PS 165FX 2 ways in the front doors and I disconnected all 3 dash speakers.
The dash speakers ruined the soundstage.
I certainly understand why you omitted the center...

I just unhooked my center speaker last night. I didn't really notice much of a difference. If even any at all.

    Everything is stock non-JBL
