Hey I'm new to the Forums here so I wanna say, greetings from Colorado!

I'm looking at a lot of possibilities for for my Truck but need personal pov.

If I did a 4 inch lift and new tires (maybe new wheels and that's also a option instead of my stock 20" wheels) would I need a regear?

I might tow in the future so . . .

Other than that I'm a big music person
I was thinking of a new sound system like sub behind the rear seats so I can listen to all my jams.

What did you guys get for your first purchase for your Tundra?

Give ToyTec a call. They can help you out with what direction you want to go with your truck. Maybe you want 17 inch wheels with 37 or 35 or 33 inch tires and coil overs or just Bilstein 6112s on the top setting. There are lots of options and lots of budgets. We would need to know your thought process as far as modifications go and what look you are going for. Some people love 20s and others only run 17s etc.

thanks, I was looking at so many options regarding my trucks appearance but not opposed to performance upgrades.
I guess I'm looking for whats worth upgrading first and what did you guys upgrade so far?
I'm hoping to do a lift and beefier tires and then doing performance upgrades.

I did suspension and tires first and then the stereo. After finishing the stereo upgrade I realized I should have done the stereo first. The stock stereo is terrible and wireless CarPlay is so convenient.

I also did a Fortin remote start kit that has been great.

Haha that's gonna be my first choice I guess but I'm gonna keep the stock radio. What speaker brand and set did you do? I'm looking at a sub and whole speaker set but not sure what to grab. Also going to be soundproofing the cab and door panels too.

The first thing I did was get rid of the passenger car tires. Went 1 size up to 275/75/18's so I didn't have to worry about regearing.

    Welcome from Oregon!

I have made the following changes (in this order):

    -stubby antenna
-replace plastic oil filter housing with metal
    -ESP rear underseat storage bins
-Katzkin leather seats and heaters all around
    -leather wrapped/stitched steering wheel
    -LED front turn signals
    -side mirror VLED puddle lights
    -Diamondback SE black bed cover
-5 channel amp, 12” sub, sound deadening, component door speakers
    -BlackVue dash cam

    Still planned:
    -paint/powder coat wheels
    -lift or level, still undecided
    -larger tires
    -dash speaker upgrade
    -Possibly replace head unit
    -Line x the bed

The future could hold bumpers, who knows?

Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. I like them but they pick up a lot of stones. I thought the BFG KO2's picked up stones, the Falkens are worse. Well maybe not worse at picking them up but they definitely hold onto them more so than the BFG's. This seems to be getting less the more miles I have on them.

I did order all my stereo and remote start stuff through James at Tech12volts. I got a JL Audio package that included the RD 900/5 amp, two sets of C1 components for the doors, and two W0 10” subs with his custom fit box.
For the dash, I went with a Kenwood DMX906S HU, Kenwood 3.5” coaxial in the corners and James’s custom JL Audio C1 tweeter for the center.
I did dynamat on the back wall and all the door skins. Be careful with how much material you put on the doors as they get heavy if you go all out.

Welcome from Texas! My first mod was installing a 6" lift and 35's. Entire new stereo swap was next. And no, if you stay at 35" or less on tires, you will NOT need a regear. 37"s however, will require a regear

Nice! I was planning not to Regear hopefully haha very expensive work to be done. Rather put it towards Bilsteis suspensions haha! And damn! A six inch lift?! That's tall! What lift did you run? Did you do a offset to your wheels? I'm planning on a 4 inch lift but maybe higher the better IMO plus offsetting the wheels by about -15.:burnrubber:

Oh man that just sound like a nice set up! Thanks for the heads-up on the doors! Is JL worth it's weight from its name? I'm hearing Kicker and JL are top runners for the money. And how much did it run for your set?

When you say heaters all around, are you talking about programmed heating under all the seats? Cause if so wow! I need to learn more about this! It gets cold here and just wanna add to the interior when I can! What set did you run for speakers if you mind me picking your brain? The oem sound system are a bit rough to my ears

JL Audio package that included the RD 900/5 amp, two sets of C1 components for the doors, and two W0 10” subs with his custom fit box. $1,199 for this part

Kenwood DMX906S HU plus Maestro RR and install kit. $699 for this

Kenwood 3.5” coaxial in the corners and James’s custom JL Audio C1 tweeter for the center. $160 for this.

Keep in mind James includes every harness, mount, adapter, screw, butt splice, wire etc. Not only is it convenient, it makes for a clean install that is 100% reversible to stock in a few hours. Zero cutting.

Regarding the cost of JL, I think you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t consider it hype - they’ve proven themselves over the past 3-4 decades imo.

Now I'm running a method 703 that has a 17 x 8.5 and 0 offset. I just got 35s BFG KO2 tires mounted. On my set of wheels with Toytec Boss Alumna, SPC UCA, is regearing necessary still?

Man I really would like to get one without spending a bill for one though hahaha. I was close to grabbing one from a junkyard but the owner said he sold it when I asked him about a week prior but oh well. Soon though!

Go with 3" or less lift, less headache. Mine is sitting on 3/1.5" with 37x12.5 on 20" wheels. Re-gear is based on how much larger the tire size you going with compared to stock 32's, not wheel.

Ah I see! Yeah I'm planning on doing a BMC soon by myself and running 37 tires in the future on 17 wheels

Besides regear (no tools for it), all the mods on my truck were performed by me. I'm also planning on 18 or 17 wheels once I wear the tires out.

No, you will not require a re-gear for 35's. I mean, it sounds like you are already driving it with the 35's. Are you happy with it? I had no issues when I moved from OEM to 35's. "Re-gearing" your rear differential is simply a way to offset the increase in your wheel diameter. When you get bigger diameter wheels and tires, it drops your RPM's lower, makes acceleration more difficult, and decreases your MPG. Not to say that you couldn't re-gear for 35's if you feel the change in acceleration and MPG is too dramatic for you. Most do not. BUT, if a person moves up to 37's, they will feel a big difference. I have yet to see a member here on Tundras.com, with 37's complacent with OEM gearing.

I actually recommend re-gearing going from 32 to 35+. You also have to account for the tire mass and potential load you will be adding when modding. 4.88 is the ideal ratio when going from stock 4.30. I wished they made 5.10 or 5.13 for the 37's but I went with the next option, 5.29. In my opinion, 5.29 is well suited for 38's or 40's.
