What to buy or not buy from dealer at time of purchase?

    What's up guys,
Long time Toyota owner, but first time Tundra owner. I will be picking up a 2018 Cement Limited CM on Tuesday. Family is getting bigger so it is time to move on from the Tacoma. Looking forward to building her up here in Colorado, I spend as much time as I can away from Denver and in the mountains.

Anyways, my question is what have you bought from the dealer at the time of purchase that you either regret or wish you would have bought? I live in a small town with a substantially lower tax bracket so debating on wrapping a couple things in with the loan. I was thinking about window tint and the clear bra on the front, so not too much. Also, not having a bed liner is going to drive me crazy so that would be soon, but I've seen a few people say they prefer the quality of the Line-x over the Toyota dealership for half the price. What do you guys think about that ceramic coating they offer?

Thanks for the help and look forward to getting to know some of you. Appreciate any info you throw my way.

I wouldn't let the dealer install anything extra. You end up paying a lot more for the product and if you put it into the loan you will pay even more.

For tinting the front two windows it should run you $100 at the most. The line X you should be able to get for under $600 for the premium.

I would never let them ceramic coat my truck either. The dealership cant even wash a vehicle properly never mind do a ceramic coating.

Have them throw in the LineX. Anything else, they're over charging you. Save the money on floor mats, get some aftermarket Husky ones that everyone around here loves.

Yes, pretty much this. If you're getting a DC, get the rear under seat storage from the dealership. If you don't plan to upgrade suspension, get the TRD package, which rides better than w/o. But everything else will be cheaper purchased afterward. Also, in my opinion, unless you LOVE the look of dealer-mounted steps, you'll regret buying them. Just about everyone tries to trade them out for aftermarket steps or sliders, so there's almost no resale value. In places like CA and TX, you can get them free with Craigslist curb alerts. If you want them.

Another hint: DON'T get the premium sound package. All dealership sold sound systems for the Tundra suck, but the premium JBL costs more to upgrade after purchase. So go with the regular Entune package which includes all the Nav stuff, and save that money to replace or upgrade later.

Yes, definitely don't buy Toyota floormats. The Huskys are way better fit and durable.

Yea I was considering nothing and not paying the interest on it through the life of the loan. That is true on them screwing stuff up, they forgot they even had my Tacoma for a couple days when I first bought it. When to go pick it up and they said, "Ummmm, that's been here for how long?"

I plan on doing my own suspension and stuff down the road, and sliders will be a must at that time. Thanks for the info on the sound system and Ill for sure look at the under seat storage.

X2 on the all weather floor mats, my driver side didn't make it 6 months. Also stay away from the paint protectant . My buddy owns a body shop , and told me it's nothing more than a glorified wax job.

The only thing I would buy from the dealer is any TRD parts like exhaust or intake. But you may think you are saving taxes , you are not saving because dealer markup on parts and labor is just insane. You can usually get anything dealer sells outside for about half the price. So save tax I don’t think so!
