I've looked in the owner's manual, I've looked at diagrams online... I cannot figure out what this switch is. Anyone know? 20230310_172204.jpg

It's the latch for that plastic flap to come up and give you access to the cubby underneath

Lol. Yeah it's actually a map pocket under there that is just a couple inches deep. My previous truck was a 2nd gen.

Actually, it does. Once you remove the cover, you can pull up on the cup holders and remove them, too.

Shh. That’s my secret hiding spot. ;)

Now pull up on the latch for the center console, but instead of lifting the lid, slide it forward. It will lock in a few different positions, so the “armrest” is where you want it.

    Bam. Mind blown? :D

Oh well. I think only some tundras do it too. Not sure if it’s trim level, or year, or both.

I think it's a crewmax thing! My '08 has this 'feature'. Found it by accident a couple years after having the truck...

I'm cruising w/my arm on part of the console, and my right hand is hovering in the area of the latch. One of my dogs is standing w/front feet on console and head out the sunroof. I guess I was diddling the latch, and all of a sudden the console lid slides (slams) forward; the dog acts like he just got decapitated by the sunroof, and I'm trying to figure out what the hell happened while he's staring at me like, 'Do that again MF'r...

Anyhow, we pull over and start messing w/the lid and figure out it's a comfort feature to adjust the position of the armrest

Hey OP. You posted in the 2.5 Gen section, but you have a 2.0 Gen Tundra. Might get better responses posting in the 2.0 Gen section. 2.5 Gen has the refreshed interior.

I know this is old and already answered for you but I gotta add.... Are you for real or jus messing around? It's actually for a laptop and if you read on the top of the padded arm rest compartment there's actually a stora6 spot for that plate

that's weird :notsure: the one on my '08 is full depth and is meant as previously stated to hold a laptop while driving

For those that don't know... many of the interior features and much of the design found in the Gen 2 Tundras were done so with specific intention.

IE>>> I know a lot of folks hate the big round knobs for HVAC controls and complained about the archaic look of them. However, when the Gen 2 Tundra was rolled out, it was designed to be highly functional as a work truck/platform... The reason for the big round knobs, was so you could operate your HVAC controls w/o removing your gloves, laptop cubby, huge flat workspace (center console top), etc....

This is one reason that Toyota held out on upgrading much of the interior design for so long in spite of folks begging and pleading for all of the newer creature comforts....
