I definitely get the bed-floor mounted tie-downs. I may do this as well. However, I do not have bed rails. Planning to mount these to the bed rail mounting locations around the bed rather than installing OEM bed rails or DIY bed rails

Added Bilstein 5100 up front to level her out. Went with the mid adjustment.

Got my 42" Diode Dynamics light bar installed, easiest mod yet. It was a tight squeeze and you definitely want to attach lightbar to brackets before bolting onto bumper bolts. 20210602_161135.jpg Now to wait till it gets dark to make it daylight again.

I never understood how folks don’t get good use out of a sunroof/moonroof.
I literally use mine every day.

    Let the sun shine in...

@Hightide, I had one on a previous vehicle. I rarely used it when driving but I always cracked it when parked for air circulation. I miss having it for that reason...

    I need bronze wheels first.

And suspension, and tow mirrors, and.....

I remember seeing that post but I'd trade for Tundra with a moonroof before I had my roof cut. Its a cool idea though.

Installed a Caliraised LED Light Bar. Love that its hidden and not super noticeable. Next up is TRD Skid and Valhallah front/rear plates....

I’m partial, so I may not present a neutral argument.
I come from a long life of customizing anything.
I believe all vehicles should have some sort of method of opening the roof, in a sense.
Whether it be sunroof, t-tops, targa or convertible.

I think the tundra with a sunroof and roll down back window achieves airflow superbly.

I remember seeing that thread and thought it was pretty cool.
It would be worth the cost to me if I didn’t have a factory one.

I think the DCs with sunroofs are slick.

$1250 is not bad if done properly.
If not done properly, you’re opening up a fresh box of headache.

I have cut into the roofs of at least 5 vehicles.
It’s not an issue when done properly.

I wish I could dig up a pic, (ah, the times before digital photography)
but I had an ‘89 Nissan Hardbody that I put a snug top on.
I cut the entire back of the cab out so that you could walk/crawl through like an old blazer.
After sealing the cab to the snug top with a flexible membrane, I cut a targa top into the cab as well.
I molded my speaker boxes through the back where you could sit like little recliners.
There was a place molded into the carpet in the very back where I could simply set the targa top when removed.
    it never leaked once.

You would be amazed or angered at the amount of accessories I have built up, due to lack of time to install.

I have several boxes of things that need to go on the Tundra from my FRAC harness to paint matched pieces to extra storage with a built in air compressor yet here I sit, playing video games and watching the forum.

Got the Line X sprayed in and my Bakflip MX4 on. It has a little too much play on the passenger side at the tailgate, so I’ll see what the distributor has to say about it. Happy with its functionality otherwise.

Lol, if you said you had some Polaroid pictures I bet half this forum would be scratching their heads. I bet that Nissan Hardbody was sharp.

Along your line of thinking about all vehicles having open roofs, having a moonroof/sunroof would be safer too in case one were trapped on both sides in a wreck and couldn't get out. Hmmm, that's an interesting point, it could be an added safety measure thereby justifying the expense. That is what I would tell myself anyway.

Folks with crew cabs have a lot of comforts but I love my 6.5 ft bed. If I could find someone I could trust to do it right I might just do it. No time soon though.

Serious question as I am a relatively new Tundra owner and new to all these mods. Is there a reason you want it level beyond appearance? Mine certainly is not level, but I don't feel it sitting in the driver seat (ie not sliding forward) and it drives just fine.

If you tow at all, using a leveling kit without other mods will cause the rear to sag during towing. If you aren't going to tow, it is just a matter of appearance assuming that you are not changing other suspension components. My 2cents anyway.
