Right now I'm leaning between cooper stt pros, falken wildpeak both at3 and mt, and toyo open country mt. If it's quiet it's a bonus but that's least of my concerns. I need something that's super aggressive with great traction in all weather including paved snow as priority. That traction needs to be great on and off road since it's my daily. 10 ply, load range E, and decent life would be great.

I'm going to end up getting around 40k miles on these Pitbull Rockers and they fit exactly what I'm looking for. The hum and 84 lbs/tire dont bother me. In every other way these are the best by far. The pics are from a week ago. Even needing to be replaced pretty soon the traction on them are still probably better than many other new tires.

I’ve had falkens and loved them. Currently I have Yokohama geolander X-AT.

They are much more aggressive then the falkens and handle well on road and have dealt with the recent dumpings of snow very well.

Thanks for link. I'll have to talk with my buddy that ran super swampers before. I wish I could run these but I'm guessing 75-90 on highway daily probably wouldn't be great. Any tire that gives a max speed makes me nervous to run. But these treps look badass too. The pitbulls are actually great on the highway doing 90, only downside they hum.

Plus I'm doing about 50 miles daily and run super in NJ. Between summer and winter I probably average around 12mpg. I'd say weekly I'm around $100.

Honestly I think my hitch weighs more than the DB. I'm like a tank rolling down the roads. Besides, the bed cover I got to cut down on wind resistance and plan to mount a spoiler on it to help lol. I kid.

I think the bias ply swampers were the ones that weren't so great on road. I believe the radial ones I linked do much better on road. I saw these recently and they look pretty good too. https://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/geolandar-x-mt

Follow up to my previous post @ https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...d-gen-tundra-today.713/page-1742#post-2096442 since some more stuff came in and is now installed.

Nice warm 25 degree morning so figured I'd get this wrapped up. Got the Rago Molle mount installed, some Rotopax and relocated the backup camera.

Relocated camera. Had to modify the license plate mount it came with and had to drill 2 holes in the Rigd swing and install 1/4-20 nutserts.
    image0.jpg

Camera wiring on the harness side. Luckily the kit I bought plugs in at the tailgate end where the factory one connects (rather than all the way back to the radio) so super simple to go back to factory camera if I pull the tire swing off for a bit.
    image1.jpg image2.jpg image3.jpg

    New view from the headunit.
    image4.jpg

And finally some views after the Rago Molle panel & Rotopax install.

Installed the GM style tow mirrors 2 days ago and I can definitely say that it’ll take some time getting use to as they aren’t magnified like OE

Haha I'm normally very organized. But both passenger and driver side lower ball joints were rusted to the knuckles. This is the aftermath of cutting off the boot/bolt and welding rebar to both ball joint plates and smacking them with a 10lb sledge. Shit was EVERYWHERE.

Had my new to me Tundra for a week.

    1. Removed the plastic insert bed liner
    2. Added Gator FX Bed Cover
    3. Added ESP Under Seat Storage
    4. Bought a drop hitch / ball
    5. Bought Ratchet Straps

Need to address the miserable headlights on the 2017... I've been reading here to learn. All of these tips are GREAT help.

Tried to post pics (you've all seen them anyway), but couldn't figure out how.

Thanks for the all the info.

Can’t wait to throw these on. $200 for all 4. Guy switched out to mud terrains after 25k miles on them due to picking up too many rocks. Now just need to order lift

Out of curiosity, what makes this mod so appealing? You have a truck bed and spare under it. Why complicated using your tailgate so much and make your trucks footprint even longer?

Great question and I did this for a few reasons:

    1. Move spare from under truck - under the truck is a horrible location for a spare and a pain in the butt to get to even in the best conditions.
    2. Ability to mount a larger spare tire without cutting underneath the truck - Yes you can mount a slightly larger tire under the truck but not much larger than stock and it takes some "modification". While personally I still run the stock size I now have the ability to run larger including the spare.
3 - Ability to carry 2 spares (outside of the truck bed) - My overall build goal is more of an overland/camping build so being able to carry a 2nd spare (1 on carrier and 1 in stock location) is a huge bonus if needed.
4 - No spare in bed - Yes this might seem simple and easy to most for a spare (if not under the truck) but is a place I don't want a spare tire. The bed of the truck is or will soon be mostly taken up by the refrigerator, storage drawer system as well as ancillary stuff like 2nd battery, solar controller, inverter, gear, etc.
5 - Additional storage - having extra fuel & water stored outside the vehicle is a plus and again doesn't take up bed space. Outside of the bed, the only other way to really mount it is roof (inconvenient) or a bed rack system of some type but I'm waiting for a topper to arrive so side storage from a bed rack system is out.

You are right that it does lengthen the truck a bit but that's not a concern of mine. More of a concern is the increase in departure angle and at some point when I do a new rear bumper this stuff will be mounted to that instead so this would no longer be of concern.

Thanks for the detailed reply and not taking offense. My brother in law just removed his off his 4runner due to the PIA to open his rear door. Hadn't seen one on a truck and was curious/got me thinking. Your points make sense to me and +1 on trying to get that spare out from under if your geound conditions suck.. Good luck with your build.

Wasn't offended at all! It was a great question and they make sense for some people but not for others depending on your use case. It does take a couple seconds extra (maybe 7-10 seconds if you're going slow) to open the carrier up so I can drop the tailgate but once the toppers on it'll be easier to open the rear glass of that and reach in if I need to. I guess if you were using your truck for work or something and constantly in the bed it would be a PITA.
