Lots of work in progress on my truck today. New headlight enclosures, new foglights, new brake booster hoses and clamps, new power steering pump suction hose and clamps, new air pump hoses and clamps, oil change (2.5k miles is here already), full transmission flush with Amsoil Fuel Efficient Signature Series ATF, front diff/transfer case/rear diff fluid change, new cab mounts and A/C refrigerant charge level check. Also, new rear exhaust pipe with stock replacement parts...original muffler has a wrinkle on the leading edge. Must have been a snow bank. Getting shifter inside the console cleaned up as well...it’s still a bit sticky after a beverage accident a couple of years ago..

Decided to replace fuel vapour canister proactively as well. Current one is 14 years old and probably due for replacement. The brackets were getting crusty, so that’s reason enough.;) I went for the frame interior rust protectant wax as well...want to make sure the inside of boxed portion of the frame is fully protected against the coming winter crap. Throwing in a new Optima Yellow Top 27F as well...current battery is good, but is 5 years old now and is down about 100 CCA from new.

Also getting a full detail done...can’t have new headlights and foglights and not get a detailing. Would look very strange...;)

Pics of new headlight enclosures and foglights...

Optima Battery test results. Master Tech is trickle charging it overnight to get it back to full charge before it goes in...don’t want to whack the alternator I had put in a few weeks ago in the nuts...;)

Yeah, I hooked it on a rock crossing a steep wash. This was the after picture after I did a little work with two by fours and a bottle jack LOL.

    I ordered a new bumper.

I also pulled my Eibach coilovers and lowered them a notch. Went from about 2.75” of lift to 2ish”. I was having some front end noise that I think was due to not having my coils indexed correctly, so I fixed that as well. I didn’t like the way the truck felt in the corners, and I have stock UCAs so I was pushing the limits.

I installed a 12Volt solutions remote start in my 2010 today. Bought the "Dot" Key module. Super easy install, programming, and great instructions.

    Pretty things
Any explain regarding the coil indexing?

Just installed mine yesterday and believe both the top mount and spring perch were flat milled surfaces.?

Have mine set about 2" from the bottom of their travel... Feel like Eibach should hook it up with a longer wrench for adjusting.

Not exactly an easy task even with the suspension unloaded.

I used the recommended indexing diagram from Toyota, which showed the pigtails at a 25 degree angle outward from the bottom mount bolt.

Mine is the Stage 1, so you have to compress the coil and remove the seat to move the clip. It actually isn’t that bad pulling them all the way out. I put a long 2x4 between the frame and LCA and my daughter levered it down while I pulled out/put back in the coilover.

Can anyone with a stock front end on their 2nd gen take a picture of their radiator? Long story short, I took the metal pieces off off mine when I added my front bumper, trying to determine what piece needs to go back on.

Replaced my antenna. The rubber degraded completely so I swapped it with a nicer looking model. Literally never use the radio so I don't care about signal.

Picked my truck up from the body shop today. Had some rust developing because a windshield replacement was done poorly and their tool gouged passed the paint in several spots. The repair took a week.
The shop removed the windshield to check and repair the glass channel. The back window, cargo light and satellite antenna were removed to achieve a factory finish. Had some dents, door dings and creases removed while in the shop too. I’m impressed at how they can do such paintless dent repair so perfectly.

anyway, it’s back and rust free.

Trimmed off the excessive amounts of front wheel well cover so it didn’t didn’t look weird off the side of the front bumper, and replaced my stock headlight bulbs with Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. Now if only I could put the vertical support beam for the grille back on…oh well, that’ll likely have to wait till after I get back from #elk2021.

I have an older 650 model when it came out a few years ago. While it was a great camera, there have been a few issues with the Blackvues and the bitrate on the videos are not that high, even at the highest setting. In contrast, I also had a cheap G1WC which had higher bitrate which produced sharper and clearer videos than the Blackvue. Given the cost and issues I had with the Blackvue, I ended up with a Viofo A129 dual channel. I always recommend getting a dash cam, doesn't have to be the best but just something that can record so you have a witness in case of accidents.

Yeah, I went back and forth for a long time before I purchased the BlackVue. Lots of options out there. Thinkware and BlackVue seemed to be the two highest rated, and the BlackVue seemed the less conspicuous of the two.

Like I say, just a 24-hour sample, but so far I’ve been impressed by not only the clarity, but the parking/motion-activated mode as well. Hopefully they got some things ironed out in this model.

The bed rack project continues  I added a skinny roof basket rack for miscellaneous stuff and to balance out the look of the whole unit. It seemed very empty having the Yakima cargo box running solo. Currently, I have my traction boards strapped and locked in the basket. Just need to make some small adjustments and tweaks on the whole system and hopefully this project is in the books for good (I have a feeling that it'll never be done hahaha!). I promise this is the last post of this!
