Yeah that cover was a good temp fix but I don't like covers to begin with. It was better than the OEM rubber though. I agree the OEM leather is a ton better. Should've came stock like that. I'm still getting use to the difference in thickness, but I'm very happy with the switch to OEM black leather.

I wired up my tailgate to open automatically when I hit the unlock button on my key fob three times within 4 seconds. It is glorious, cool and borderline useless all at the same time.

Took one of these ($11): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002J22BO/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1, two of these ($33.50): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009SWLE6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, some wire, an in-line fuse and a standard Bosch relay that I had laying around. Since I have a Backflip MX4 that adds a bit of friction to the top of the tailgate, I also ended up needing one of these $6.00 door poppers: https://www.amazon.com/Baosity-Stai...=door+popper&qid=1555095721&s=gateway&sr=8-41 Total of $52 invested.

My truck came with the Toyota/ Pop-A-Lock tailgate lock dealer installed, so I just had to add two wires going to the tailgate, add the actuators to the handle, and wire it up to the passenger side footwell where the tailgate lock was already wired into. I downloaded the directions from an old post on a different Tundra forum years ago as a pdf. I can't post it here, but if anyone wants it, send me a PM with an e-mail address.

Not a bad haul for the day when all said and done.
    20190412_181602.jpg

I wanted to load my trailer a good amount lighter than usual since this was the 1st time I'd be hauling heavy with the new setup. Happy to report there's no kinks to work out.

These tires are amazing. You would assume by just looking at them they wouldn't be good on blacktop. But make no mistake, they perform offroad exactly how they look, they're badass. The Nitto RGs weren't bad offroad, but these excel. Areas I would get stuck and have to put in 4wd, these just cruise through. The extra height I picked up helps plus the larger contact patch I'm sure doesn't hurt either. A couple areas where I had to put it in 4wd, the truck just pulled and pushed through easily. No airing down needed. Cruised through the trails in the woods with my normal 35lbs psi.

I was wondering why and how a tire could be so damn expensive and people still buy them? Well now I know why. The little extra road noise mud tire hum tradeoff, which btw, I've had others both in the cab, outside the cab, and in their own vehicles driving next or behind me, tell me it's not that bad. This is something I'd take on the deal all day long.

By now I've taken it easy offroad both with and without the trailer. I can't wait to really push these things and see just what they can do. My guess is zero disappointment.

Those rims actually look bad ass in black! I hated my platinum rims, but never had the idea of painting them black. That was genius level. :)

How's the install on those knobs? They actually look really good. Also wondering if those chrome surrounds on them pop out easily.

Wow awesome truck, what is the antenna, and what leveling did you do. I have the same wheels and want to keep them and just add bigger tires, any rubbing or hitting the shock tower with inside of tire?

The antenna works great and I haven't noticed any reception change. Are used the rough country leveling kit shown below. The tires are ridge grapplers in 285/60r20 and I did have to trim a small portion of the metal skid plate where it protects the fron t sawy bars. Do you guys still take the stubby antennas off going through car washes? I'd still be afraid of them snapping off where they thread in. I'd like to get one mostly because it's annoying to work around the stock antenna when brushing snow off the windshield.

I've chanced it so far, but I should have learned my lesson since that's how I came to have a stubby antenna to begin with...snapped off the stock antenna when I forgot to take it off.

I really like this look in white and what I would do if I didn’t have mine. Absolutely gorgeous... rims, tires size and stance (I’d use 6112’s though), black badges no stickers, everything exterior you’ve captured. Well done!

Car wash? The blasphemy! Hand wash only! Lol, just rubbing you, I would remove it. My stubby inside is a thin piece of metal, already bent off and warrantied once. It’s the good Antenna Source one. Actually I switched back to OEM over winter for better reception, gonna put the stubby back on.

Ok, that's what I figured. Do any fit the OEM tool to tighten it on, or is it just hand tighten? I barely ever listen to the actual radio, usually podcasts I download locally on my phone or Pandora so I'm not too worried about reception.

That looks great! I just got a quote back yesterday to powdercoat mine just like that. They look a lot better than I expected.

The gf surprised me with a bend tent from auto anything. The Deluxe Napier. Definitely love it, has a lot of room in the inside.
