Not sure where you live, but I had a roll up for exactly 1 winter. The tri-fold is significantly better and easier to use in cold weather. On the roll up, every joint can get ice and snow in there making it a real pain.

I can see that happening. Im in southern Indiana and the truck is mostly garage kept. We dont see snow as much as we used to past couple years. So far i like it, it’s lightweight also. I can flip it with one hand standing from the side. My buddy had the oem one on his 2016, and it is heavy. Had to stand on the tailgate to open each fold.

Painted, assembled, ready to throw it on and locate where I need to drill. This is going to be the hard part.

Gave my sliders a grind with a wire wheel and a respray before winter sets in. Pretty happy I didn’t spring for powder coating on these, I’d be pretty bummed to gash up a nice paint job like that.

And of course as one does when an angle grinder with a wire wheel is sitting around, I ended up getting way too carried away and got rid of a bunch of the surface rust on my lower control arms and gave those a quick spray as well. They look a little too shiny for my liking right now, but after a few thousand miles I bet they’ll look a little better. Thankfully they don’t salt the roads out here in Colorado, so hopefully this coating will last a little while.

Good call. I always spray paint all my bumpers and sliders. Easier to touch up.

I have a question on labor for a lift install? Background.... Have never paid to put a lift on so I don't know the cost. Have done two myself. Still picking up from Helene here and I simply do not have the energy, the area (It's all mud now), and now the tools (lost a lot of them in the flood) to do this myself at this time. The kit is a full IronMan 4x4 PRO kit with the upper control arms that I have had laying around for a while now. Pretty simple. The local "overland" shop, which is about the only one I would trust around here, wants $1730 to put this on. This includes tax and the alignment which they said was over $200. I was actually shocked at that price but maybe I'm wrong?

    Tastefully enhanced...
$800‐$1200 is common in my area...slightly less (~15%) if purchased through the outfit. Sorry about your challenges you're facing. If you want to drive up to MT I'll do it for free! 2-wheel alignments shouldn't cost $200...should be closer to $80‐$100...ugh, not sure what to suggest...

Man I appreciate it! An that is what I was thinking...around $1200, and the alignment was ridiculous also. Thanks for the input, and the offer.:cheers:

My local dealer said 800 which included a 200 alignment to swap out my black shocks for the TRD Sport shocks.... that drove me to do it myself and then pay a local place like 100 for an alignment.

Shop costs are dumb and they seem to charge more if you didn't order parts thru them.

use a stop bit! Prospect overland has a wonderful video on how to install a roofrack on the 2.5 gen tundra and shows how to do it without needing to drop the headliner or anything

Wow just watched it. I love the base the rack sits on and how it gets rivets instead of rivnuts.

I'm excited to see how yours looks with the topper.

i need a visual to see how a roof rack with look with a soft topper behind it and your truck will be close enough to judge lol

that's the Sherpa Rack. very happy with mine, and that mounting system is a big reason I chose it.

New LED headlights are definitely next. Eyeing the Morimoto XB’s. Kinda like a little bit of chrome. Everybody wants to chrome delete . I agree it looks great without but i’m pretty happy with this look.

Late post. Installed air lift 5000 airbags about 3 weeks ago. Sagging while towing was bugging me.
Single Schrader valve installed next to the 7pin connector.

well I'll be dipped in shit.
I really like my red stitching and red center mark.
But I also like the idea of a heated wheel...

    Edit:
Found the red strip/stitched one for same price.

A slow day at work meant I had more than enough time to pull everything out of the bed, clean the recent deer’s blood off the bed mat, reorganize all my equipment, weigh it, and put it back into the bed

apparently all the recovery gear and tools I haul around is good for 275lbs so I think I need to go through it and prioritize a little better.

I’ll post up after the install. I haven’t decided if I want to stick with the Thule bars over the canopy or order a matching rack from victory 4x4 for the canopy.

Ridiculous prices. :annoyed: Yeah I know what has to be done. Will probably load it all up and put it on in February at my friends shop while in florida at that time. . Always nicer to do it using a lift versus on the ground.

Added some brackets to hold the steps I am building. I was pretty nervous about drilling through the wall, but it went pretty smooth and I was able to seal everything with some gasket goo. These are cool, the top part is spring loaded. Ya lift the tab, tuck in your stuff, then let it go and the spring tension holds everything in place. Tighten the bolts on top for added security. I'll probably add one to the other side of the door for a gas can.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it.... especially since i was going to have it done while they were already working on my vehicle and doing a tire rotation.

But whatever, I enjoyed learning and have now done it again since then  Haven't done UCA's but I can't imagine that is worth another 600 in labor since they would have already removed the shocks anyways....

    I wish you luck!
