A super easy solution is a pop socket mount. Mounts with 3M tape. I’ve had it in my truck since it was new and my phone screen never vibrates, the fit between the pop socket and the mount is very snug and that rubber material on the pop socket must act like a shock absorber. And the MagSafe pop socket is obviously strong and removable. The mount is $10 and the popsocket is $30

Here's the one I went with. It's the Schosche Magicmount Pro 2 (magsafe compatible, and flush-mount style). Partially covers the vent when it's upright, but you can put the phone sideways if you want. I like the simplicity and location. Seems to have a strong magnet as well.

Wash truck, rotate tires, gave the engine bay a bath which I don't do often. Admired the fleeting shine that will last until I drive down the gravel road.... lol.

Still cleans up pretty good for a 5 year old truck living in the country.

 

I would have to poke at the wiring diagrams a little to check. It was officially added as an accessory in 19, but I think the door lock circuit and connectors is the same for older Gen2.5 as well

 

My '18 came with a locking tailgate from Toyota. I love it. So I want to say it should work but I don't mess with the electrical

 

Sorry - they added it as an accessory in 2018.
There were wiring changes with MY2018 because of the TSS system, but I don’t think it changed the passenger door lock junctions at all.

 

Why I defer electrical to you. Just wanted to weigh in since I had this.

Loves his toys, and water... and unfortunately growling at people he doesn't know that approach him directly with their eyes locked on him while saying "Oh look, what a cute pup!" in a whispered high pitched tone. More experienced dog savvy people he's fine with.

It's possible you have a pop-n-lock aftermarket that was dealer installed. Or if it was late enough in 2018 when you got it, they may have put in the factory one.

I just dug through the instructions and the wiring diagrams a bit. The factory one jumpers inline at the MJ1 connector in the passenger kick panel.

There are differences between the 16-17 EWD and the 18-21 EWD, but the two wires that control the front passenger door lock are the same all the way back to 2014 (different wire colors, but same pin numbers - 9 for Lock and 18 for Unlock).

So the factory lock setup should work for any 2014 and newer. The only caveat would be for trucks with the memory mirror function (Platinum and 1794) - the 14-17 models use a different setup for the memory ECUs and have more wires routing through that MJ1 junction to reach the passenger door. But when I installed mine, I'm pretty sure that all of the wires were included in the jumper part of the harness so I'd be willing to bet it would still work.

At the risk of not buying the appropriate one, I purchased this Gooloo jump starter. I researched a few sites and it had good reviews. This after reading several of you all talking highly of jump starters a few pages back. Then my son in law needed a jump for his Ram and my wife said “do not use the truck!!”. I ordered this the next day. Curse this site for spending my money.

 

1) For cleaning I have a good gas powered pressure washer and as long as the engine isn't leaking I stay away from harsh degreasers and use regular carwash soap. If it's a real messy old engine with tons of grime I will use a heavy degreaser. I typically only wash the engine compartment a couple of times a year on my vehicles. High pressure water jets and degreaser can degrease things I'd prefer to stay lubed which is why I try to avoid letting it get too bad. I finish off with Gumout Engine shine. It smells decent enough and more important than the shine it adds a minor layer of protection that will last quite awhile and makes it easier to clean the next time around.

2) Yes - 2 stands for the rear axle to get both rear tires in the air and then use the jack to lift just one front wheel at a time is what I do because it's what I have, LOL. With this set up I can choose to swap back and front tires one side at a time or I can remove both rears and then take one front off at a time and move it to the opposite side rear. as shown in the diagram below. This way can provide a bit more even wear because you are not only changing tires back to front but also (in stages) allowing all the tires to be run on both sides of the vehicle and in every position. This can help if alignment is less than perfect.

 

PSI of your machine and how far away do you keep the wand tip?

 

I really don't see a problem with that unit.

I've used lots of different LI jump cells. As long as they have the CCA needed, they all seem to work the same.

I have one of the earlier versions from HF. The clamps are " hot" once they are plugged in. It does not have the safety circuitry that prevents the clamps from flowing voltage unless it detects 12 volts.

I use that one more than any of the others. It works great for bench testing starters.

 

I have the same one and it's been great.

 

It's a Simpson 3700 PSI pressure washer and I use the 25 degree tip on it for pretty much everything. As for the distance I stay from stuff it depends... Alternators, solenoid housing, exposed bearings, radiator, underhood foam, etc all deserve to be treated with a bit of care. Especially since at 3700PSI we are talking a stream of water than can quickly abrade skin. I stay "further" away from stuff like that and in some cases don't linger long or intentionally don't spray directly.

In general I suggest starting by using a pressure washer on stuff you don't care too much about first to get a feel for things. I've been using them for a long time now on cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, sidewalks, grills, and houses. Trust me when I say I have learned the hard way a few times though now I consider them a valuable and time saving tool.

 

Went for it. Best comfort decision thus far since sadly this is a road/worksite truck

 

I’m probably in the minority here but there is zero way I could justify dropping that kind of money for ride comfort. A couple thousand bucks so it rides smooth? No way.
