Cool! Good snow wheeling through there? I had always gone up to Mendocino National Forest for the past 10 years, but it's so burned over and picked through there's hardly anything left... so we made the switch to Tahoe this year. Our spot wasn't bad. Right off 89 near the transfer station.. but maybe would've liked to get a little further off the main drag...

Finally built up the courage to remove the chrome handles. Shout out to @memario1214 for the excellent YouTube guide. I watched it so many times that it's almost like we spent the morning working on the truck together

    Before:

Questioning why I do these things to myself:

Done with the hard part (smart key front):

    Worth it:
    PXL_20231216_170545299.jpg

All-in-all, not too bad. My wife even surprised me by saying she liked the new ones more (she's historically thought the chrome makes the truck look 'more luxurious'). Probably won't fully dechrome until I run through these tires, but it feels so much closer than before to being where I want it!

Over the last few days I managed to the last of the chrome interior delete, steer wheel, radio surrounds, shifter base and cupholder all black now.
Still considering what to do to the stock shift knob?

    Cheers

I'd suggest a black TRD shift knob.
    One of my favorite mods..
I put a little bit of heat shrink tubing on the shaft.
Fits the right hand perfectly with your elbow on the console..

I like the OEM part, but you can find cheaper knock offs on Amazon

I swapped my black door handles to painted years ago, but with a DC I only had to buy 2..

@Droptarotter are those stock running boards?

Thanks for the tip on the shift knob and I have been looking at those particular ones. The knock off's on Amazon don't get the best reviews, so was hoping to go to the Toyota dealer next week and see if any of the trucks on the lot have a TRD knob.

Edit: I like your idea of the shrink wrap on the shifter stalk!

I'm a fan of the chrome on the outside of my black truck and have ordered chrome Tundra inserts for the tailgate.

    The running boards are an Amazon purchase that I am quite impressed with. These were only $250 when I bought them in January.Here;

I can't do an American flag! Nothing against the flag, it's just that I am Canadian, but thanks for the thought!

    Cheers

With my shoulder surgery 5 weeks ago behind me I finely got to mount my front and rear cameras. Tried fabing a bracket for the rear without much luck, I also saw the 20.00 one some guys here are using which looks pretty good. Since I wanted this done today, and its getting dark out, I just velcro’d the cam to the headliner. So far so good. I may run the power wiring into the center console, or the fusebox in the future, but for now its powered by the lower dash cigarette lighter. Wiring well hid though.

They're just sitting in the box for now. I figured I'd hold onto them just in case the black ones ever go bad; that's code for they'll sit in my workshop for the next 5 years lol

Edit: I'd try selling them, but I imagine not many people would want a half chrome/half cement door handle.

Pop and Lock install. Took about 2 hours. Would have gone quicker but we were distracted by the dogs, burning some downed limbs on the property, etc. Straightforward, easy and works like a champ. Got real tired of getting out the fiddly little key and locking up every night on a recent 4k mile cross country trip.

Installed these faux leather seat covers today. Just Amazon covers but overall, I'm happy with the fit. Scored them for like $200 on black friday/cyber Monday. They aren't perfect and I know exactly where the imperfections are. I will work on getting the wrinkles out at some point but for covers, I can't complain.

Used it to tow a 7000lb dump trailer to the landfill and then into the next county to return it to my buddy... Imagine my surprise when I back it in to his yard, disconnect, and see the hitch pin is missing...... No clue how long it was gone or where in the ~80 mile trip it bid me adieu.

Had the undercarriage treated. Being a 5 yr old New England truck, I'm happy to have it preserved in this condition. Went with NHOU, in clear. Cat shields and brackets removed & treated as well.

I get the NHoil applied to my 2016 as well and no rust starting after 7 salty winters. There was enough undercoat accumulated that I skipped it last year without any issues and had it done again a couple weeks ago. Good product!

I've not heard of NHoil. That's up near NHMS (I race there). How long does it take for them to do an application?
