What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Dropped the truck off at the dealer AGAIN. My car alarm issue was resolved with the battery, but now I have a small leak coming from behind the parking brake when it rains. The dealership called me and said they think it's the windshield's seal, but they'll need to do some more testing over the weekend to verify.

Really hoping this is just a stream of bad luck that will be over soon because I'm really down right now.

Please update us when you can. I’ve been chasing a water leak from this general area for years now with no resolution.

 

Will do! I originally thought it was the sunroof drain (I figured they might have popped off the a pillar trim when chasing my car alarm issue since I have a dash cam), but both them and I have poured a ton down the driver side drain and no water came through. If it's worth much, the leak is right behind the parking brake near the nut for the kick plate.

Wow, that's a new one for me... My '21 has a weird condensation issue w/the windshield. I figured it's just from being here on the coast and having some changes to the HVAC over the years. My '08 does not behave like the '21 in that regard, so who knows maybe something isn't right w/the seal around the windshield on mine. I do recall seeing something about the QC on windshield installs from the '20s - early '21s, but mine is late '21 so I kinda just blew it off...

Keep us posted, and I'll probably have the dealer peek at that on my last 2yr-24k service.

Interesting! I purchased my tundra the day it was delivered in Oct '21, so it was an early '21 model. I don't think they're going to fix it today and they're closed Sunday, but I should have an update on Monday.

 

Had 275/70r18 Cooper at3 xlt tires put on. Also not pictured I put powerstop front rotors and pads on.

 

Gave her a bath...started as just a spray down...then saw a buch of pollen dots ended up washing it by hand half panel by half panel... damn there went two hours today. edit just check the time 3 hors not 2...lol

R1 concepts. I had them on my gx460 and they worked great.

 

FINALLY got around to dechroming some things. This is a Silver Sky Limited that came with LOTS of shiny pieces, hard to look at sometimes.

Black mirror caps, color matched door handles, plastidipped all the emblems...except the iForce 5.7 badges, I like the black detail already in those. Dipping the the Limited badge was tricky!




I'm not completely anti-chrome, especially with the Silver Sky where the chrome tends to "blend" a little, just needed to be toned down a lot.

These are next on the list...I want to upgrade to smoked LEDs (these headlights just suck!) and tone down this grill. Think I'm going with the honeycomb with chrome surround.
Anyone have a honeycomb grill with chrome surround laying around??

I have the same cat plates. You're supposed to remove it because you'll have better protection with the plate.

 

Damn, that's great to know and makes perfect sense! Ha! I guess I'll remove the cut up leather glove I had sitting inbetween the two skids...ha! Weight reduction, right?!

 

Took off RCI and Valhalla's skids. Both didn't stand against Boston winters well (which we largely don't have, but the roads are still salt-covered). A lot of powder coated paint flaked off under power washer. Rust everywhere. RCI skid is bent. May need to upgrade it in the future, it seems to be a bit too thin for my use case

Need to do a lot of prep work and spray in Raptor. Raptor seems to withstand weather odds quite a bit better. I wish I bought them unpainted, would save a day of hard work.

 

got the hell out of NY and moved to CO...2100 miles, 48 hrs, stopped twice for 2 or 3 hour naps, and averaged an astounding 12.5 mpg

 

Solid efficiency while towing! Hard saying, not knowing but CO might be better than NY! Congrats and good luck on your endeavors!

I do it the right way: sand down to bare metal, etching primer (2-3 coats), zinc primer (2-3 coats), Raptor (2-3 coats). With drying time between coats and Raptor's full cure time it takes more than a week. Yet have to see any chips or rust on my past work.

thanks! bought a place on the Western Slope between Montrose and Grand Junction, amazing is an understatement... went to a river festival yesterday and my daughter who just turned 6 and had been here for less than a week said "everyone here is so nice" haha

 

Finally installed front camera. Decided to install under the license plate. With the recent lift, feel the height works well.

also installed the cigarette plug replacement for inside the center console.

 

Right on man! There's a super solid Facebook group call Colorado Tundras that I'm a part of that I highly recommend joining. I believe there are a bunch of folks on the western slope so it might be a good recourse if you're looking to explore your new home with fellow truck enthusiasts
