Drove 10 hours up north to the North Maine Wood to vent out and back. Remarkable moments were forcing a sudden beaver pond instead of a charted Wilderness road in DeLorme atlas.

    8.jpg

This was the first time I went that deep.

    6.jpg

Engine fan was cutting thru the water, the truck was sinking in mud if let stay for longer than a second. Water drained from the doors when I finally got the the other side of the beaver dam. I was happy I made it, only to find out in a minute the old road is blocked.

    5.jpg

Didn't want risking going back to beavers, so decided to go through the forest fully harvested long ago.

    7.jpg

With only 1-1.5" of lift and 33" AT tires I knew I would be stuck immediately, so I prepared the toughest looking stump with chainsaw, so recovery strap would not slip over and I could pull in with the winch. A group of 4 vehicles stopped by and I got filmed of course =) Made it half way through, then one gentlemen suggested to use his truck as anchor, so I could do the other half. That did that, I thanked him with couple of the finest cold beers, which I had plentiful, thanks to my ARB fridge setup =)

    4.jpg

Speaking about beer... Because it's end of May, the bugs are there, I had to gear up for the beer ;)

    2.jpg

One of the old routes I tried to explore ended up pretty bad for the truck: the last mile or so was all bushes and shrubs. Old map said there's a bridge at the end, and I was so close, so I decided to push through. Only to find out the bridge long gone. Of course.

Scratched all the way back, doubling the damage. Parked the truck, returned to the water on feet for some bathing. Water was good, maybe high 40s.

    11.jpg

The truck is a little bit more brush-polished than it was the day before. But it'll buff out ;)

    1.jpg

I also loved my Rago dash mount plate. Took an old Android tablet, loaded it with Earthmate, and it was a great help in navigating to troubles!

    9.jpg

Anyways, it was a remarkably good trip, and I'm ready for my dull civil life, till the next trip!

flattened my license plate back out and flipped around the fairlead mount (though it really doesn't work in this position either with the Agency6 block). And this position is even more susceptible to damage that the original position. So I need to find a different solution (front plate required in WA).

And swapped out the two outer lenses on my S8 with amber.

Do what I did? I have a similar semi-hidden WARN bumper, only w/o a neck breaker.

Except that would either cover the front of the grill or the front of the light bar…

That’s basically what I’ve got - slightly different design. What I need to do is just extend the tabs to push it forward enough to clear the shackle block and flip it back the way it’s supposed to be. I also want to dream up a quick disconnect for it, so I can just pull it off out in the woods

That clips onto roller fairleads… I’ve got a Hawse fairlead.
    But thanks for looking!

might just go this route to start - simple, but also easily hit.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QYCKZQ8

or things one is more complex, but also clears the fairlead opening better if pulling upward

Welp, since my winch shackle block is Agency6, I took a look at their site.
With the 15% off sale, I pulled the trigger on:
    https://agency6.com/products/garage-sale-fairlead-1-0-black
    and
    https://agency6.com/products/license-plate-mount-for-a6-fairlead
and (because I needed new ones for my block anyway)
    https://agency6.com/products/billet-winch-shackle-pads

the mount is spaced to work with their blocks, and in theory I can pull the two screws holding it to the fairlead when out in the woods.

Its a loud pop sound that happens when i'm coming to a slow stop and hit the brakes, or if i rock the truck or shut the door hard. It typically goes away when i retighten the skid plates every so often. Though i need to go over my suspension too and make sure that's all still within spec. I've seen people having loud popping noises from loose UCAs and other suspension components.

I had loose LCA bolts that caused this. If it's coming from your skid, some people had it cured by putting rubber washers or strips between the frame & skid. Worked for a friend of mine.

I jumped on the bandwagon several months ago and installed the TRD rear sway bar. Since, I've noticed a difference, but subtle. Like, actual improved handling or confirmation bias? Subtle.

Well, I got my answer over the weekend... Entering a freeway, traffic was heavy, but moving. I was doing 50 plus at the top of the ramp, and glanced back to check on merging. Merge left was clear for the moment. When I looked back to forward, however, brake light city. I had a choice: slam on the brakes, possibly catapulting my dogs into the front seats, or swerve left. My subconscious chose swerve. The next thing, I'm in the left lane and accelerating. No roll, no sway, no rock-a-by. It was like Scotty just instantly beamed my Tundra, 90 degrees to my direction of travel, one lane left. I've one word for that lane-change experience: Crisp!

    I love this bandwagon!

I know how it feels ;) A buffer polisher takes those scratches out in no matter of time. It's mostly an optical effect after all, the damage to the clear coat is not that severe.

There's a bunch of "history" buried under that bridge fosho.
My Junior High science teacher's husband (kinda bizarre connection) ran the original survey teams for that I-10 bridge. She said he would come home with some stories. "...pretty sure we saw some things God forgot he created out there..." was my favorite.
