Only had my 2022 Tundra Platinum Edition about a week now, so today I was driving very slowly up a hill (I was looking for an address, so kinda creeping along very slowly) the incline was somewhat steep, although a regular paved roadway. All of a sudden I applied the brake tp come to a complete stop, then when easing off the brake, I noticed I was slowly drifting backwards, wondering "how can this happen if the truck is in drive." I did then notice that the engine was off (stalled?) So I started it back up then proceeded forward. Im unsure if I drifted back while the engine was still running (kinda had the music a bit loud, so no idea when engine cut out). Obviously this could be a ,apr problem if someone had been behind me. Can anyone tell me anything about this? Anyone else experience a stall while slowly creeping up a fairly steep incline? Appreciate any feedback, I found this to be very concerning. Thank you

Hybrid or no? Even with the engine running and in drive, the torque converter in an automatic transmission will allow a vehicle to roll backwards on a steep incline. It isn't good for it, but it's not really going to hurt anything if it happens occasionally and for only a few feet.

What about the engine "stalling?" Should I be concerned?

Does your truck have that engine off/auto start feature? I wonder if it shut off when you came to a complete stop, then since you eased off brake it didn’t start back immediately.

Just curious, what production date do you have? I'm assuming you got this truck used since it's a MY2022 and only had it for a week?

Asking cause Toyota had a recall for stalling issue on early models.

Not sure of the production date, but good info on the recall, I will contact my Toyota Dealership and inquire about it. Yup, I did buy it used, has 9K miles on it (2022)

Sounds like a good situation for brake/hold to be used while you look into the recall or auto stop/start
