In search of better fuel economy due to current gas prices, I have removed the followimg to save weight:

    Front and rear bumpers
    Back seat
    Passenger seat
    Bed
    All glass
    Dash
    Console
    Cab
    Hood
    Front fenders and grill
    AC compressor
    Heater core
    Windshield washer reservoir
    Plastic cover over the engine
Replaced 38 gal fuel tank with 5 gal fuel can
Wheels and tires are tiny, narrow spares

I have also set the brake fluid and power steering fluid to the lowest setting in which they will still work. Radiator is half full of coolant, and the oil is barely touching the low mark on the dipstick. I have also removed the air filter.

I currently have the truck to it's bare minimum - a seat bolted to the frame, steering wheel, engine/transmission, and wheels. I even removed the seatbelt because it was catching too much wind and creating drag. So far my efforts have netted me a best full tank average mpg (hand calculated) of 17.345. This is up .345 mpg from the usual 17 I was getting before making these modifications.

What else can I do? Gas prices are eating me alive!

    Too many, but not enough....
I think this is probably the most extreme I have ever seen anyone go to save some gas, power steering fluid is like what, 4 grams, lol......why dont you just buy a $3000 dollar beater that gets 30 mpg? With a garbage car like that you wont even have to worry about getting your cats stolen.

At $3000 the cats are most likely not included.
