I understand what sport mode does. You can feel the shift points extended/prolonged. But what does eco mode supposedly do? I don’t notice or feel any difference at all. And I certainly don’t notice any improvement in fuel mileage. What exactly does it do?

Probably adds more lag to the gas pedal or adjust the fuel ratio.

Mechanically, nothing. It’s all electronic. It changes throttle mapping to reduce input sensitivity and maximize timing with the least amount of throttle input. It really just leads to a lack luster driving experience.

The manual says absolutely nothing about how it works. Says what it does, supposedly, my question is how.

Ok. That’s helpful. I literally cannot tell a darn bit of difference eco vs normal.

It most likely is a very tame ecu throttle and timing curve map like stated above. Just general sadness and crushing disappointment.

I can tell but I’m also running 35s and eco mode is just sluggish

Eco mode in other models reduces throttle response in the higher gears. 1st and 2nd gear are either going to be similar to normal, or just a tiny bit less, but then as the gearing goes up, then the response goes down.

That’s interesting. I can tell a difference in the performance. I only use in Cruise Control say at like 45-60 mph. I hate it otherwise.

Eco mode shifts up at a lower rpm than Norm. It also shortens the run cycle of the A/C compressor.

Strictly my experience, but for my use I get the same or better mpg in Normal as I get in Eco.

Should be renamed Govt MPG test mode. That is all it is for to eak out another 1/10 MPG on the tester while real world you get an extra .001 MPG sweating with AC neutered

I usually switch it over when I’m in bumper to bumber traffic. I find that the constant stop and go is a little smoother in eco

Isn’t that the exact opposite time you should be using it? From what I understand it’s only effective in the taller gears at high speed. I have even read that it can make mileage worse in stop and go or city driving scenarios. No idea if that’s accurate, but it stands to reason if you have to push the pedal harder to go the same speeds in the lower gears.

The only thing I really noticed was less throttle sensitivity, slightly earlier shifts and made the AC unable to keep up with SC temps from May to September. No difference in gas mileage for my rural driving and even if it did the AC performance decrease would have made it unbearable to use.

I notice the difference between Eco and Normal, just like I notice the difference between Normal and Sport.
