What do you use the 120v outlet in the truck bed for?

I recently purchased a Tundra and it comes with the outlet in the truck bed. I’m just curious to know what everyone uses theirs for and/or what plans or reasons everyone might have to use it. If possible, add pictures please!

My truck doesn't have it, but I can see where that would be great for charging cordless tool batteries, or a portable power supply while traveling long distance to a camp/cottage or camping trip. Providing of course the truck bed is protected from the weather.

It's only 400 watts, with the truck parked and the engine running. 100 watts while driving. So your options are somewhat limited to what you can run off of it. A typical toaster, for example, needs at least 800 watts. A skill saw needs around 2000 watts.

As mentioned, it would probably work for charging batteries, or maybe a few lights, but that's about it.

I connected a leaf blower to it once to clean out the trunk and it was super weak. Makes it pretty useless.

Why is it bad info? It's good for 400 watts. Apparently your cooler uses that or less to keep things cool. Plug in a skill saw and see what happens.

I usually look up videos on YouTube but there wasn’t much on the outlet. Just wanted to see what y’all use it for. And a cooler? What kind? Can you post link?

Specs show it uses 50 watts max. No problem for the inverter outlet.

It is. They've got actual camp sites but they're far from the lake...and they're expensive. This tent let's us cheat a lil bit for the day..cheap entrance and close to the water. Cant overnight in the parking lots though.

Thats what I was thinking, plug in an Inverter (If it will run it), if it will then your just limited by the inverter. :monocle:

Seems like someone should try that...

That's a little creepy to say with a child's bike in the picture and no child visible.

I too run a portable fridge ( Iceco model) I have also done the 400W anytime mod, which is just a plug & play wire harness you plug into the inverter under the centre console. Sometimes on a road trip I will use a portable power (Bluetti) as a UPS for the cooler so when parked at night the cooler will run all night.

I wish the outlet had more power but it works for my needs - And remember the power is for both outlets , in the bed and in the rear seat combined.

My 07 Taco came with similar 400-watt 110 volt outlet. When my kids were young, I used the outlet to light up xmas lights around the bed during xmas season. Now, I use it to light my 6-foot whip light when I go to the dez.

I think the point remains. A 400w outlet is pretty damn useless for most electric powered items.

As an owner of a ranch, I often find myself doing various projects where traditional power is not available, so I lug around a small generator for power tools. It would be so convenient if my truck outlet would handle those power needs.
