So I'm reaching out to this community for some input on a deal I was offered on a 2012 Texas edition Crew Cab Tundra. The truck is a salvaged title (rear end damage repaired) that looks pretty good with under 90,000 miles. The guy is asking 15,000 for it.

Looks nice but I would skip a salvaged vehicle unless I could inspect it before it was repaired, and do the repair myself vs buying one that had been "fixed". There is just no telling what was actually damaged or if the repairs were completed properly.

But, you can get some gems that are salvage titles, often if a vehicle has been in more than a couple accidents, the insurance company will get to a point where they will not repair again, regardless of severity, and total the vehicle.

I would consider it if I could see some pics or documentation about the repairs.

I would take it to a frame shop for an inspection. If it "passes" their inspection, and your inspection shows no other obvious problems, the price is right. Plan on keeping it because salvage vehicles can be difficult to resell without taking a beating.

Mine is 2012 dc 4.6l sr5 off road package. I paid $20,000 through used car dealer. Considering yours is salvage title and 2wd I would ask for $12000 possibly?

I would take it to a shop for full inspection not only of the rear but every thing , also is 2wd what you want? What are your plans for it? And so forth.

I picked my 07 SR5 up for $21k out the door , was 99% stock. But it was also 4WD and has a sun roof (both of what I wanted) 81k original miles and second owner. Came with the ToyTec ultimate 3" lift. Later on I've found shotty wiring in alot of weird places were I want to kick the original owner in the nads for. (Not places even a inspection would of found)

but over all I'm happy with I paid for an what I wanted. I know I'll be the last owner of it an be rebuilding the Trans around 430k , might even spend 10k on new wiring harness an do a frame off resto.

so It comes down to what your plans are an if you get it do you feel comfortable with your getting for your plans.
