What are you actually looking for in a good set of wheels?

With cars, if you go to aftermarket wheels for actual performance purposes, you are looking for two things that end up driving price: Strength (usually forged or not) and weight (lighter is of course better, especially unsprung mass like wheels).

I don't see a lot of discussion about this with the truck wheels.
Now that my suspension direction is established, I guess I should get on the ball with wheels/tires if the wait times are going to be similar.
What performance metrics are actually in play when you are looking for a set of truck wheels?
Are cheap aftermarket wheels known for breaking under heavy loading?

Or is the choice mostly driven by aesthetics at the end of the day?

Lighter weight to help offset the added weight of larger than stock tires.
