Went to take delivery today on my new 1794. Had a door ding in the rear passenger door. So I refused delivery. Glad my wife saw it. They are going to try paintless dent repair this afternoon. I am skeptical. Told them it had to be flawless or I wasn’t taking it. The head cheese dude tried to intimidate me by saying it might be six months if they had to reorder. I don’t think he anticipated me saying “okay”. Not playing that game with them and I’m not taking a truck with a door ding. Hope I’m not out of line.

PDR does wonder. I had 3 PDR's done on my truck. The only visible part is one where paint is heavily scratched.

I am very OCD about dings and dents - ask my PDR guy... I absolutely would not accept a brand new vehicle (especially for what these things cost) with a ding in it. You are not out of line IMO.

The paint is not scratched. Hopefully they can make it invisible but I am doubtful.

I had a small ding in my Tacoma within about 10k miles. It came out without a problem. I would advise to compare it to the other side when finished because there may be a pilot hole they had to drill for access to the dent.

    I hope that's not a dealer that charges for a pre-delivery inspection.

If he/she is a good PDR tech, you can't tell if there is no paint damage.

Lighting and angles (and OCD) play a part in how noticeable it is. White and lighter colors are better at masking than darker colors.

MGM is darker - but the metallic may help. Guess we’ll see how good their PDR guy is.

I'd hate for you to know how many vehicles actually come off of the trucks damaged then. I'd venture to say 25% of vehicles in our region come off with some sort of scratch or ding. Hell, we've had about a dozen vehicles come off the truck too damaged to sell. Imagine calling a customer that's been waiting for 9 months for a car telling them the trucking company caved your roof in lol. A ding is no big deal.

Well they say he’s good. We will see. Door dings are something that bothers me a lot. Even my company car, which I did not pay for, gets parked where no one will ding it up.

You can get some free stuff out of it.... Hopefully you have running boards. I think that was the only thing that saved my previous rides from door dings. Hurts to have it on a new ride though.

I took my 17 with surface scratches on the hood and side pillar. They buffed most of it out and gave me window tint and LineX bed liner.

Transportation is a nightmare. To point it simply, it's a bunch of Russian guys who don't give a shit what happens to your vehicle in transport and then we are left trying to fix it for the customers. Toyota is working on getting their own transportation but that's years away from even thinking about.

Well, they have texted me and said it is fixed. The delivery/vehicle orientation person said she cannot tell it was there. She had a pretty good eye while we were with her so we will see.

They scratched my bed installing the leather seats to my SR5 in 2014.
Their PDR guys fixed it, you couldn't tell it was ever damaged.

    Good luck..

I had a folding table fall in the folded position on my Mustang. The edge of the table made contact and left a 6" wide crease and somehow also a ding. The PDR guy fixed it in about 45 min. The ding wasn't noticeable, but I could slightly see the paint was off from the crease, but only at a certain angle and in the right lighting so it didn't bother me considering what it looked like before he fixed it. That was back in the 90s when PDR was becoming a thing, so I can only guess the craft has improved, whether by know-how or technology, or both.

But, there's no way I'd go for that without any kind of incentive on a brand new vehicle, especially not for what they're going for. I'd want at minimum a discount since it's technically a damaged product, AND they would have to pay the PDR guy to fix it, AND it has to be flawless when they're done. Maybe I'd be asking too much, and chances are they probably wouldn't go for that knowing they could probably fix it and sell it to someone else who'd be none the wiser. But seriously, upwards of $70k for a new vehicle? He!! no, it's 100% on them to make it good.

    Lots of stuff!
I got this link from the Airstream site:

I have a crease on my trailer right under the front logo, I did it with my kayak a few years ago! I might get a kit and try to fix it myself.

    This video is amazing!

My advice take it to pointless dent removal expert. They can work wonders. If you stretch the metal it will be hard for the paint less dent removal guy to fix your mess up

My thoughts exactly. Not to discourage anyone from trying to do it yourself, but this is one of those things that is MUCH harder than it looks. Your average PDR tech (a good one anyway) is trained for a few months before they ever turn them loose on an actual customer car.

Mobtown bolt-on sliders for tight parking spots
Your SR, no it’s not a luxury car and that thing still cost you around $40k.

1794 buyer is going to have a different mentality.

If I didn’t mind dents and dings, I wouldn’t spend more than $20k on a truck.

    IMHO of course.

Edit to the guy that missed my point...I'm not judging Eurodriver's vehicle, I'm judging their attitude about how someone else feels about theirs.

Paying that much for these trucks is mind blowing. I understand the OPs mindset especially with paying these prices. Would you take the door ding if taking delivery of a new Mercedes/Audi/Lexus?
