I have a bolt on cat back exhaust, some people tell me I need to bring it to get welded up to prevent exhaust leaks and rattling over time, then other people tell me no don’t do it, its meant to just be bolted on. Any opinions and experience with this?

Do not weld it. Tighten it up and then recheck it in about 1000 miles. It will be fine.

Thanks, a buddy of mine has a Ram 3500 with a bolt on and said he never had issues. Now my other buddy has a trd pro and got it done at a shop and basically shit on my bolt on until I revved it up. Then he quickly went to the old “I didn’t want mine that loud” yeah ok.

I quit listening to other people’s opinions unless I specifically requested it.

never had problems with a proper bolt on. We live in Louisiana, not Minnesota. You’re not going to have issues with corrosion and leaks here.

I think that you should contact a specialist who will tell you exactly what your problem is. He will diagnose and understand if your bolt can be twisted or needs to be welded. If you do not want to spend a lot of money on a specialist, I can recommend only one thing. Download the instructions on the official website of your car to see how this bolt is attached. When I graduated from the welder's school https://ratemywelder.com/, my teacher told me a piece of essential advice when working with machines. He said to constantly look at how the car is arranged so as not to damage other parts. This will make it clear how to solve the problem and how your vehicle is set if any problems suddenly arise.

What don’t you understand? The question was, ‘do I have to also weld a bolt-on exhaust?’ Answer is ‘no’, if it was designed as a bolt-on, no welding required.

I see this is your first post, so I figure you have a related concern. If it’s still not clear, or if your question is a variation, please clarify.

    Welcome from SoCal!
