Yes, the bronze wheels are the Land Cruiser Heritage wheels. I wanted to get a different color than the black Tundra version; I just hope that they aren't limited by VIN. But, when there's a will there's a way...

Nah but battery isn’t doing so well as my system is killing it and Toyota battery’s suck in general. But I don’t wanna think about that expense at the moment. Not looking forward to a $300 battery.

Adding water to establish proper level and performing an equalizing charge every few months would help it last longer. Alternators are designed to put out ~14V and do not have specific profiles to perform precise battery charges.

hey fellas, hope everyone had a great Fathers Day!
Looking for a little encouragement to pull out the card on some suspension parts.. got a deal from mikes custom parts in tundra forum for some fox 2.5 fronts with dsc, total chaos uca, and diff drop kit for 2400. I've done a ton of searching the last couple weeks and seems to be a pretty solid deal... what do you guys think? Best prices I found separate were 1650, 900, and 30 respectively.
I will still need the 2.5's with dsc for the rear end(found em for 1100) and lift shackles(150 ish), putting the total cost around 3700... more than I planned on spending but I think this setup will be pretty nice.
I've second, third, and fourth guessed it, slept on it, waited a week... time to poo or get off the pooper as they say
thoughts? suggestions? fk no don't do that!? any and all opinions welcome :monocle:

Yeah, why are you thinking ‘diff drop’? If you’re planning to take it off-road, skip that. If you just want lift and don’t want to take it off-road, you don’t need Fox unless you just think they look cool. Can you tell us how you plan to use the truck?

@Sunnier @831Tun I don't really have a reason for the drop or exactly know whether I needed it or not.. just have been seeing it included with most 3-1 lift kits out there.
As far as truck usage, it will be my daily driver (massive commute of 3 miles to work lol), but I absolutely intend to get into the heaviest off-road conditions my truck can handle on a regular basis. I have done a lot of remote backcountry backpacking/camping trips, and have always wanted to do some heavier off-roading vehicle trips. Fast, technical, rocky, I love it all. sooo, initially was looking at king setups(mostly because I thought they look cool haha) but he didn't have king rear ends so that set us down the path with fox, which he 'had a good deal on'. after reading as much as I could find, the dsc adjusters that only fox has(I know other brands have adjusters too but) seemed to be a great fit for me as I would like the smoothest Cadillac ride around town with the ability to easily change the shock for rough terrain. also, there will certainly be some trailer/boat/rv towing in the future so again having the ability to stiffen up will be great.
Im not rich but we do well, so I wanted better than a toy tech boss kit but not quite as big as an icon stage 9.. my initial budget was to spend around 2k, but with all the added benefits of this system I have reconciled with spending the extra money to get it done right, and well.

It's cheaper, should it ever come to pass, to replace an axle or CV than to replace/repair a front diff. The diff drop might take a little strain off the CVs but it increases the input shaft angle and puts the stress on the pinion gear. Maybe Paul, @BestGen can confirm or refute my opinion, he knows his s4%#?

Well I just cried cuz I shoulda listened and saved up and got the correct lift. I don’t hate my truck by any means, the stance of it I love. I just never imagined myself doing any offroading so I went with a spindle lift. 5” zone off road to be exact.
After meeting some of these crazies and seeing how fun it’s to be out on the dirt I realized I made a mistake. But hey it is what it is now. I should of gone with a nice coilover set with adjusters, UCA and so on. But one day I’ll get there. For now I tell my story haha

I do..? o_O I mean, I do! ;) Most definitely better to have the CVs be the weak link. Replacing/repair diffs..? Mucho dinero! Can you imagine fixing a diff in the field? Been there done that. Luckily 8” thirds are interchangeable front to rear.

This might be a dumb question, but still learning the geography and places to go. Girl and I looking to get out and spend friday and saturday night somewhere. I want to be by water, and preferably not inside a campground. Any suggestions? I don't have a fancy GPS thing so if you throw me coordinates I will most certainly not be able to get there lol.

Thoughts, concerns? We are based near thousand oaks so anywhere within ~3 hours is fine. Planning on leaving friday afternoon if possible.

Haha gotcha. That’s where I was a couple months ago.. I thought, I’m just gonna get spacers and level it... fortunately I waited and I’ve been doing my homework and really learned a lot about all the components, unfortunately the more I learn the more money I want to spend lol. But hey, I haven’t cried yet.. :fingerscrossed:

I use an app called all-trails to find camping/off-roading areas. It’s free to join and will show you trails and maps all over the US. You can search just around your area as well, and it gives road directions, trail restrictions, everything you need to know. Even has pics and write ups of users so you can see what you’re getting in to. You will need either a computer or smartphone to access it, you could always print out the maps before you go they are very accurate.
As far as a specific location, look at upper twin lakes in the kaiser wilderness. Very remote, Beautifull lake full of fish, and few ppl. I was just there a couple weeks ago it is absolutely one of my favorite spots.

So I finally got the wire thru the grommet, ran up to the top and this happens. The mounts isn’t working...ughhh something always happens and stops me. I need to find some one with a 3D printer that works with abs or ASA.. one day I’ll get this finished up.

Here are some better pictures. U see how one side is clipped on and the other looks like it isn’t clipped in. The third picture is what it should look like, nice and flush. I have the mount in the third picture but it won’t hold up to heat.

Is it because the wiring is a tad bit short so it puts pressure where it attaches and that pushes it aside?

Hmmn, I’m trying to think of who on here has a SP in a 3rd gen with the controller in this spot. Haven’t seen @TheFreshMouse or @sdde4n in a while. @Porschetech29, do you know if anyone with this mounting location in a 3rd gen, who might help out?
