Hi all, 08 Tundra SR5 Double Cab with the 5.7L. 150k on it.

Weird problem. Randomly I get what sounds and feels like a plastic sounding click in the steering wheel. I don't think it's binding the wheel but I can feel it and hear it.. Happens going down the highway while just normally staying in the lane, turning sometimes as well. I can't make it happen, it just does it randomly. Really noticed it while pulling my small camping trailer (15' T@B 320s) but that may just be because it requires a bit more slight wheel turining to keep it straight. I lowered the wheel a little and that seems to have lowered the number of noticeable instances.

    Any thoughts?

    Does the horn work?

If not, the ribbon cable could be the issue.

Another cause could be a failing turn signal assembly.

Just like you, I'm just tossing darts.

Please report back if you figure it out.

Horn works, no airbag light and cruise control works. A few people on Facebook and other areas still seem to think it's the clock spring. Seems like a simple enough replacement, I might throw that dart and see if I get a bullseye.

Turn signal assembly is an interesting suggestion. I will definitely look into that.
