WDH+748s+RAS?

    Getting a TT that'll likely be 8K with 1K tongue loaded. Picking up the hitch and installing the 748s next week. Worth adding RAS?

    *I've scaled my truck before and know its payload. I'll be driving solo to make this work.

    RAS seems excessive, I have 748 and I've been ok with that tongue weight.

    I also have U748 springs and a trailer that can get into that weight class when loaded up. My thoughts:

    For occasional and recreational use, you’ll be great with a quality WDH. I have a Fastway E2 with 1,000# bars and it’s the MINIMUM that I’d consider OK for my setup.

    I dig the RAS theory, but wonder if they’ll hinder the potential of the Deavers when you want to play…

    If you’re towing all the time, you have the wrong truck…

    It'll be recreational. I've got three young daughters and our latest camping trip showed me that there isn't much worse than repeated trips to state park pit toilets.

    Planning on the B&W Continuum. RAS are on sale but wasn't sure if excessive. May still try them since they're not expensive.

    One thing going for me is that I've got the longest wheelbase available. But really, if it turns into something we enjoy and do frequently, I'll pick up a 1 ton.

    I’d give it a whirl without RAS first to see how you like it. We’ve towed our TT close to 10,000 miles with our setup and haven’t felt that I was unsafe or unsettling. Just make sure to get as much out of the WDH as possible.

    Going further back, I had airbags when I was in stock springs. Kept them with the U748s for a while, then yoinked them off because I didn’t like them unless towing. I put another spacer in my WDH to add preload and I sit nearly level with the RV hooked up.

    Glad I listened to you guys. RAS would've been too much with these beefy boys. Now to wait for my wife to settle on a TT.

    With a 35' camper that's just shy of 8500lb, the ProPride WDH, and 748s, I needed to circle back and say the RAS would've been too much. Even with this large of a setup, the springs hold a slight arch and respond very well while towing.
