Hey Gang ~ New to the forum today.
    I have a white 2000 extended cab 4.7 2WD.
Just had the intake off to repair the knock sensor wires that my nieghborhood RAT just
chewed the hell out of the wires. Too bad the 4.7 didn't have a plug and play wire harness.
Had to do a splice job using another model.
My problem I'm asking some help on is....The water temp sensor connector that plugs into the temp
sending unit broke. I have a new one coming, BUT... the new one has generic colored wires and
the original (two) wires (in pic)...one is solid green (i think) and the other is green with a yellow stripe
running along it's length. I'd like to know which wire to connect to the existing Tundra wire.
It has to make some difference or it wouldn't have a solid wire & a striped one.
The damaged female connector has been removed from the two bare wires shown, and what remains are the individual rubber seals that go into the connector.
Below the wires held (in pic) is the open male portion of the connector.
For reference: Passanger side of motor, up front, water pump area.

Thanks for your help in advance !

Given they are using a thermistor(THERMally sensitive ResISTOR), thermistors do not have a polarity, so it doesn't matter which way you connect the wires. If however you wish to keep it kosher, Temp Sensor E 2 connector green/white is pin 1 and green is pin 2.

You can get a new connector from the dealer and plug your existing wires into it. DO NOT cut off the old wire ends and splice in a generic pigtail.

Thank you for the detailed reply Bubba W. Super cool !! I'm assuming that E2 image of the female end is looking into the connector end (not shown) which is the damged
portion I will be ordering ? The male portion remaining on the water pump housing...in photo.
Question about bfunke's responce...."DO NOT cut off the old wire ends and splice in a generic pigtail."
I have already cut off those wires (shown in photo) so I have no choice but to splice in and add to ordered connector, unless i can push those
clipped off ends into the new connector and push those tiny "rubber sealing pods" back into the new connector. (Rubber seal pods shown on the wires in my photo.)
Might be more difficult to pull off than a crimped butt joint connectior with shrink tube over it. ??? Those wires were broke off AT THE CONNECTOR END, so they had to be re trimmed.

I recieved my new connector, a generic one with identical pin location and style. (thats a relief) The new wires are not color coded, but from what was
posted by BubbaW (above) I can assume the pin #1 would be the taller pin opening (at left in my photo) of the new connector, also marked with blue tape.
Are we in agreement that the left side pin postion would be connected to the existing wire with the yellow stripe on it ?
Thanks for this group effort !!
