I’ve been researching for a while for a good water tank unit. This one is an (8) gallon that is self pressurized using the provided water hose attachment at 40 psi. I used my Yakima HD over haul truck rack, then used the side mount rail that holds 100# each bar and custom mounted (2) on one side to property secure the tank. Came out pretty good and utilized the extra space on my rack. Already ordered another set side bars and thinking of mounting other accessories later. What do you guys think I should mount and any feedback on other water tank mounts?

I use recycled drums from food products. 12 volt rv pumps give pressure on demand.

There was another brand that I can’t remember now. Waterport maybe. It had a hand pump to pressurize it but I remember it being ridiculously expensive.

Yakima Road Shower. They have a 7 and 10 gallon option.

The water port is sometimes available with more accessories at a lower price through Costco. I have it mounted under the Diamondback cover at the front and have found it to be perfect for rinsing off everything after a day on the beach. You can use either an air compressor or bike pump to add pressure.

Came with all the lane departure and that stuff, electric tail gate lock, fog lights, 20s, sprayed on bed liner, tint, cat protector, and that’s about it??:)
Saw an outfit last weekend. He used 8 inch plastic pipe with a fill, a place to pressurize it and an outlet (sprinkler head), painted it black and has a hot shower at the end of the day provided it is sunny out! Looked like a nice home made unit that gives you a shower when wanted. Hooked it up with big hose clamps and some rubber on the side of a rack on the bed under the pop up tent. He had all sorts of nice gadgets!! Saw lots of off-road vehicles, all Toyotas!!! The only Tundras that were there was mine and the daughter. It was at HTX Toyotas gathering at a dealership just South of Houston 15 minutes or so.

There are a ton of YouTube videos on this. It’s a cool little project, if you have a roof rack to secure it to.

Plastic barrel with a 12v rv pump turns on when pressure drops then turns off when the valve is closed. Simple pressure switch operation. Don't have access right now for photos.

I built a system using a pump I ordered from the United Kingdom designed for a camper van. I used a Scepter MWC and bought a spare cap to install the pump and wiring to. I used a cheap camper van faucet with a 12v switch installed in the knob. You cracked the faucet open and it turned on the pump, pretty slick. I never really used it for anything but if I were I would have added a toggle switch and a simple quick connect on the cap to run a shower hose.

I'll need to try and find the pump and faucet in the attic. I keep meaning to find a 10ish gallon water tank to play with. I think the pump installed into the tank with a remote switch and a quick connect similar to an RV outdoor shower would be pretty awesome for rinsing the sweat off in the summer or doing dishes at camp.

I like your set up. I am headed to Moab in a couple of weeks for a mtb trip with some guys and wanted to look into some water tanks. Never bit the bullet on the Waterport and it is $250 through Costco at the moment. But what brand/model is yours? Thanks for any info.

I was waiting for the waterport to drop in price. I saw it once at 179 and thought about jumping on it and didn’t. Waited for it to go from 199 back down. Guess I was hoping it’d hit the $130/140 mark like in years past. :frusty: Kicking myself pretty hard right now. Waterport is right up the road from me, so I’ll just keep calling and hopefully catch someone on a good day :playball:

Yes mines is the 8 gallon pressurized water tank. Love this brand was debating between waterport and Yakima. Picked waterport due to custom mounting on my side bars using custom mollie rig brackets. Came out how I envisioned it. The other side has a large fire extinguisher and flexible 54” tire tracks. Plus I have a low profile mini truck box for my items needing better security
