Has anyone replaced the water pump on their tundra themselves? I noticed mines leaking and did some calling around and found out they want a small Fortune to replace it.

How bad is it leaking? Are you losing a lot of coolant or just a pink crust at the self sealing seal near the bottom? Is it making a noise like the bearing is worn? My 07 had the pink crust thing going on. I bought some Zerex Red Asian coolant and would have to add a couple ounces every 2 months. Was like that for 5 years. The pump is a hell of a lot easier to remove than the starter....

Have the pink crust thing going on and it’s leaving a noticeable amount on the floor. No noise, knock on wood was told by Toyota it takes up to 5hrs.

Leaking on the floor isn't good. Where are located? If you want to attempt it yourself, I have a new in box Aisin pump with gasket kit I can send you. Free. It's in my storage unit. Somewhere but should be easy to find. You have the 5.7L?

Be prepared to check and possibly replace your belt tensioners, idlers, and fan pulley mount while you are in there. It's a good long job to get down to the water pump on a 5.7, I imagine the 4.6 is similarly designed. Toyota OEM or Aisin are the only parts to get. Beware Auto Zone / Oreilly/ NAPA trash.

Napa sells the Aisin water pump which is what Toyota will sell you. They appear to be about the same price as what's at the dealership, so 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I've done both my 4.7 and 5.7. When I did the 4.7 I also changed the timing belt. Neither was too hard but with the 5.7 I had to slightly bend a steel water line to get the pump out.

They’ll also sell you Dayco or some other trash. My point remains.

A couple good YouTube videos and some fairly vague write ups out there for the 5.7 but I havent looked for the 4.6. Maybe check on other platforms that use the 4.6 like lexus gx460. These Toyota water pump seals tend to weep when not exercised regularly, theres even a blanket tsb about it for how to classify leak rate. My low mileage 17 5.7 was a third vehicle and sat when not on camping trips and it leaked enough from the water pump to make a puddle and got Toyota to honor it under warranty. My 07 5.7 has relatively higher miles but with the "work from home initiative" its gotten a lot of drive way time. It'll make pink crusties and every few months I'll add a couple ounces to the overflow tank but I never see liquid drips or puddles. It's still on my to-do list with Aisin pump but not urgent. No noise or massive leak.

I’m another OEM water pump guy. More so OEM gasket. If your pump comes with a paper gasket…prepare to do it again when it leaks.

It’s done…… Did it myself, tear down on Saturday(3hrs)and rebuild today Sunday(3hrs) took my time used a few YouTube videos which had some really good idea’s and the Haynes repair manual. I was able to find all the parts from different sites took about a week to get the parts. I’ll do my best to do a full writeup in the coming week.

Oh Crap, mine was quoted in February at $950 by the dealership, I really hope it didn't go up $300 since then.....
